The players who 'got' us relegated were players like Ramirez and Ben Arfa who didn't put in a shift, and Hernandez who was settling into English football and couldn't put away chances. Apart from that, the players who 'caused' relegation were Jelavic, Diame, Dawson, Brady, and Rosenior, and that was because they missed half a season worth of games each (give or take a bit). I don't think any players were **** enough to cause relegation in the same vein as someone like Lescott at Villa for instance.
I hope we start being linked with some decent premier league quality players soon. We've been promoted, we're getting silly money from the Sky deal and yet we havnt been linked yet with 1 decent player. Not even a rumour? If we were in the championship, then yes... Robson-Kanu on a free would be a good transfer, an option off the bench perhaps or to partner Hernandez.... and the Sane defender, 29 years old, 3.5 million or so... again, for the championship its not a bad transfer... But we're not in the championship anymore.. we're in the big leagues, with the big money, and we need big players. Even the last couple of seasons in the prem we we're at least linked with big (for us) players, huddlestone, jelavic, dawson, ben arfa. I want to see us being ambitious!!! ffs.. When were we last linked with a player that we all thought "wow.. no way will this guy sign for us" Other teams seem to aim high and then if they get rejected, move on to the next one, whilst we seem happy with going for below our level. Huddlestone was the last player to really wow me as a signing, I thought he'd never sign for us as he was too good for us. I just hope once the allams make up their minds about the future of our club we can get a move on and bring in what we need. Or perhaps its not the allams fault as Bruce picks the players he wants, is he not bold enough in the transfer market?
We don't need a keeper. If we do get one then we should sell the two sub keepers as there is no point having them!
Precisely! If we don't use our back-up keepers when the first choice is unavailable and we need...erm back-up...then why have them at all?
I know you didn't, just pointing out that it isn't illogical to want players back even though they were part of the relegation squad.
They're not going to be used as a back up keeper though. Previously, they were back up, but 'covering' for 6 months makes you first choice.
No it doesnt, it makes you back-up. Because the first choice is unavailable. The fact you used the word 'covering' yourself clearly demonstrates this.
I agree to an extent, but realistically we cannot begin to compete - at this stage - even with the likes of Stoke. They have been in the premiership for however many years and each season have added a marquee signing in a given position on 3 and 4 year contracts. So each season they can strengthen their weaknesses in key spots. We unfortunately will be weak in many positions and we really have to do enough to stay up and then try and build from there. I would hate for Bruce to be given an open cheque book from any new owners as IMO his record in signings has been at best very average and he would wet himself at the thought of being able to spend spend spend. We need to consolidate this season and I would rather have money spent on a new training ground which ultimately 'might' attract a better player if we manage to perpetuate in the premiership. I want th ambition like you, the new owners if they ever materialise might give us that hope and excitement and if they arrive maybe one significant signing might fire us all up, but 'at the end of the day', we are 'little old Hull' and a BIG signing would likely prefer the bright lights..
So Kuciak is still third choice keeper, despite being the next person to play in goal should Jak be injured? Give your head a wobble. McGregor was first choice keeper and might be for the last couple of months of the season should everything go to plan.As of now, Jak is our number 1.
Yes, yes he is third choice. Is Mcgregor now 3rd choice? No, no he isnt. If Allardyce is England's first choice to replace Hodgson, but then he decides he doesnt want the job, is he now not first choice?
McGregor isn't any choice! We cannot choose him. What is hard to understand about that? This is petty. McGregor can be your first choice and Jak can be mine. RE the Allardyce question. That's a bit ridiculous. I'm sure our first choice keeper would be Neuer, so does that mean McGregor isn't our first choice?
