I'd rather have Powell on the bench! Much younger, I do rate Maloney though, I think he can do a job in the PL, agree Powell might have been a risk but on a free is one worth taking, especially at wages of 16k.
Powell is a big miss for me, Maloney didn't really cut it last year and is arguably on the downgrade as a player, Powell is a young fella who will progress. He looked to have a lot of ability not to mention being the sort who will be able to physically impose himself when required. Would be delighted for Maloney to prove me wrong
Powell is a sick note - no other Prem team wanted him - he was quite happy to sign for Wigan which speaks volumes about his aspirations - Bruce really isn't the best judge of a players ability which is why we've signed so many pups in the last few years
Doesn't change the fact that a sick note Powell still played better than a fit Maloney. Should we have taken the risk?, I think yes but you obviously don't. Let's face it he wouldn't have cost a fortune, could have added a different dimension even if played sparingly, and given a bit more medical expertise than he's had as a loanee, could well have sorted out whatever problems he has. We'll have to wait and see how he does with Wigan (or not if Twitter is to be believed) but not everyone turns out like Bullard.
Let's just sign someone else who isn't a risk - I understand what you're saying and agree he looked OK - but if hes constantly injured then it just disrupts a settled team
Brilliant article with Brucey and a great punchline at the end http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-fear-Players-arrive-headphones-humility.html
Not with us he didn't. He was a player that Bruce wanted to sign and we didn't make it happen, that's not good, for various reasons
I didn't say he failed his medical with us. It's fine by me, although I agree with the concern that Ehab is refusing Bruce some of his targets as a general concept. Sane sounds close to completion at least.
I know you didn't, but it's a irrelevance as far as us signing him is concerned. We signed Boyd immediately after he failed a medical at Forest and there was nothing wrong with him. We didn't sign Austin after he failed a medical with us and there was **** all wrong with him either.
