Was under the impression that the minimum term for murder in South Africa was 15years.
In South Africa's "World Cup courts" in 2010, two Zimbabweans who robbed some journalists on a Wednesday, were given 15 years on the Friday.
It is, but it can be reduced for extenuating circumstances.
It seems that being a famous bloke with no legs who's said sorry is enough to get you a big reduction.

Well he's been released. Media saying 11 years after he murdered Reeva SteenKamp. He only did 8 and a bit years behind bars though.
It's a bit odd that now he has been released he has to attend anger management classes. Surely it would be better if he had done those before being let out.
He has been let out early, so I guess they have to show he is receiving some form of rehabilitation to justify it.
