Going to have to interject here. You responded to Tels quote on Corbyn comparing Israel to Isis so Tel and Raw are in the right here (I think that's what they are arguing about anyway) You also mention the impossible to support Jewish people and criticise Israel to the discussion which is separate to what was originally wrote and i don't think anyone is arguing against that. For the record i think we can agree that the Israeli government is not all good but i think it's a bit far to compare Israel to ISIS myself personally
He said that comparing all Jews to the Israeli is like comparing all Muslims to ISIS. This comment was a disgrace and as a Labour Party member I was disgusted.
As I said, I aint no Fan of Mr C. In general I aint a Fan of many politicians, ( Chris Mullin was one of the few I could ever like and I didn't always agree with him). Using YOUR quote, (I thought I should highlight the YOUR just in case I'm accused of manipulation again), I get the point you are making. I believe that Mr C was responding to an Inquiry into Anti-Semitism in The Labour Party. Being charitable, I was assuming that as he has a lot on his mind, he was merely making a comparison that meant ------ Not All Jews are the same as The Israeli Government. In the same way that Not All Muslims are the same as the followers of ISIS. It makes no difference how many times I read this, including YOUR quotation, that's how I interpret it. It may not have been a great comparison but he got this point across to me at least. And as someone who has lived in The Middle East, (many years ago), that comparison, or my interpretation of it, seems a reasonable summing up. So I simply posed a question. It was a passing thought and not particularly relevant to the subject. DOES BEING CRITICAL OF THE ISRAELI GOVERMENT EQUATE TO ANTI-SEMITISM. I do hope not because I've always supported the Jews but as each year passes I'm getting more twitchy about the government of Israel.
The Israeli government are by no means perfect, but that's not really surprising as they are surrounded by people who want to murder them and all their citizens. However, they should not even be spoken in the same breadth as ISIS, especially by a man who has been so outspoken against them all his life but now finds himself somehow as the leader of a mainstream political party..
No doubt in my mind that's what he meant but it's not what he said and that matters. Politics is about timing and wording. That comment was a car crash, the man is a car crash and a complete liability. He lacks the capacity to lead his party let alone the country. Word your views like that as a PM and you're risking huge international political fall out. You just can't be saying things like that. He has to go.
It's not plausible, it's reality mate. I think Boris was shocked by the fact he won, and the responsibility to move forward on his campaign claims are exactly that: 'unworkable'. They've already admitted their big 'promises' can't be achieved. Up steps Lady Macbeth and Mr Gove to run the country - a PM influenced by a power-crazed DailyFail journo. just what everyone wanted, right. I think May will get leadership, 'fortunately', as at least she's pragmatic. She'll need to be when it comes to negotiating the terms of Brexit. It's not all bad, but it's going to be **** for a while. not sure if a revession can be avoided. it'll be close.
Can the country afford it to be **** for a while? We're cut to the bear bones with more cuts lineed up prior to the referendum result. I wanted to leave but knew it was in no way the right time so voted to remain. The Tories have failed every one of their own forecasts for recovery, it didn't happen like they said, they've even borrowed more money than the last labour government. We're not in a healthy enough position to make this transition. Can't believe the current economical climate wasn't taken into consideration by the majoirty. Repair the economy, grow the economy, leave the EU. That's how it should have been done. I think we're ****ed. Biggest mistake since everyone swallowed the lies in Cameron's manifesto when he first became PM imo.
Easy to use the wrong words, inadvertently, on occasion. For example I'm under a lot less strain than Mr C but EVEN I got caught out recently when I asked what I thought was a perfectly harmless question on a football forum and got the sort of response befitting a bigoted moron, or even a left wing politician.
You know, writing in capital letters is very patronising. You've manipulated the quote and you're writing in capital letters to try and emphasize the point YOU'RE trying to make, rather than what we are discussing. Read it again, I'm not gonna spell it out for you, evidently if I did, you'd probably still miss it, it's not a long quote is it?
“A good traveler leaves no tracks. Good speech lacks fault-finding.” It's his bread and butter mate and he ****ed it right up.
Gordon who? I'm assuming that you are not referring to the Gordon that I share a beer with on most Friday nights as there is no obvious connection (to me).
The new PM and Mr Carney now have to manage a combo of imported inflation, weak econ growth, job cuts/stagnation thus declining revenues = spending cuts/raising taxes. It could take anything from 6 months to 2 years for the econ to bottom out and start growing again, but very little of the upside will be generated in the regions, which voted out. Our offices on the continent have already fielded calls from Uk-based companies looking to relocate their ops as they need to be certain of being in the single market. Up to 100,000 jobs could be relicated. It will take some time before 'the city' re-orients itself to serve other global 'emerging' markets, whose market size pales into comparison with the EU single-market. The only good thing is it forces the govnt to help support/create a labour force and economy suited to the 21st century. This could take 2-10 years to correct... a whole new economic cycle. Tourism might improve short-term.
The thing is though Nordic if we stayed in another 3/4 years and then left it could take 10 to 15 years years to correct I am very happy we have got rid of the twats now and if things gets worse to be quite honest I couldn't give a toss.
You cant be refering to the "Gordon the Valet" who used to hang about Sunderland in the 60's by any chance, I wonder if anyone on here remembers him or Rowells Cafe in Park Lane one of his haunts.
