hi guys i know exactly how you feel (we lost our best player and our big three all linked away) two things first who do you blame (barton for bringing it on himself or ashley) and secondly who do you want and how much money do you have left?

    thanks

From what I gather, he's still at the club but another club don't have to pay anything for him, that makes sense in a twisted way in the fact that to release him, Fat Ashley would have to pay him £2,585,000 in compensation to release him from his contract (thats based on him earning £55,000 a week for the remaining 47 weeks he's under contract).

    So he could still stay...maybe

No I completely agree with this. He doesn't fit in with many modern thoughts on wide players. But that is the key, he is a wide player, not a winger. I believe he would be outstanding on the continent for this reason. He is more of a Beckham type (though not on his level). He doesn't need to beat a man to get his cross in, and uses the ball intelligently to move forward down the right. He works his socks off there too and provides excellent support defensively to the full back. I consider the right back area our weakness in defence, he helped to reduce this problem. He also an intelligent footballer who reads the game well, and will tuck in when required to make you more compact. He's a great player to have when happy because he will put the work in. We are unfortunately seeing though he is now brutally honest as a result of his previous life challenges and this doesn't marry well with football.

Too true. I stopped getting up in arms a while back. Whats the point. They have chosen a path to reduce the debts, it just seems a destructive, disrespectful and unprofessional way to go about it. If you got yourself upset every time they sell someone, you'd be a manic depressive!

The way that I can gather, Joey Barton is still at the club, due to the fact that it would cost Fat Mike £2,640,000 based on him earning £55,000 for the next 48 weeks he's still under contract for. So it will be that Newcastle will accept a fee of £0 for him, BUT he still has to negotiate a contract and I don't think many clubs will pay him the above wage for 1 season's hard work...unless Fergie picks him up (highly unlikely but if he was going to leave us I'd rather him take a forward step than a sidewards step (Villa)).

So maybe he'll stay and I don't have to bin my Barton shirt knowing I've wasted £55 of my hard(ish) earned cash.

Edit - Sorry posted something similar and my connection went off, weren't sure that it went through :L

Top 3 or 4. Tiote is easily our best player and was last year. Colo was top banana too. Then prob Barton.

So is Barton actually going then?

If someone comes in offering a decent wage he can still say "No" cant he? (Wondering how much he will stick to his "I'm not going anywhere until my contract is up" speech)

Also on a lighter note I heard this joke today:

Joey Barton has been listed as a free transfer by Newcastle.

Liverpool FC have made a bid of £15mil.

So, best player available for free. Mike Ashley I have defended you in the past but you stupid ****ing ****ish headcase! You are destroying this club. Anybody who the fans take to you are selling. Hughton, gone. Carroll, gone. Nolan, gone. Barton, going. Colo, Jose and Jonas are next. Probably Tiote in January. We'll stay up, just. But I wouldn't mind another Championship holiday because we seriously need to build the character of those who are left. All the big personalities are going.

Barton is a pure legend. Has my 100% respect and backing.

Spent hours on it in the past when it was up, didn't get rid of Ashley though. He's shafting the players and us at the same time and getting away with it, I wish there was some way we could make him feel the hurt that we feel.
