Like Tom Watson on Labour's side, he knows there is fallout. He's waiting to see where the pieces land. In a couple of years he'll be putting his hat into the ring. What we have to do is remember. However, the British public have a great gift for forgetting.

Brexit is a typical Boris Johnson achievement. **** things up, yet make it a personal triumph. The old adage that you can fool all of the people some of the time is great for Boris. And all he had to do was fool enough. Typically, he will now get his head down, creep away into the corner, and make the odd comment from there. Possibly get himself photographed here and there being a man of the people; make the odd humorous Boris comment; do a newspaper column; rugby tackle a few German footballers; possibly present some history documentary one-off or series, and then, when the tumblers fall into place, push himself forward to become Prime Minister. That's how he operated to become Mayor of London, and most people were keen to see the back of him, once his time was over. That should have rung a few bells in people's heads when he came to tell people not to believe the experts. The only thing expert about Boris is knowing Boris. He has a persuasive manner and he's ****ing dangerous. Mind you, it's a bit late to say this now. The damage is done. Besides, it's enough for me to know this.

Well well well. Boris's plan has backfired. Shame it involved persuading the British electorate to vote to leave the EU. Ah well, no harm done.

Yes the only consolation to the Brexit decision is that Boris hasn't got what he wanted all along.

Had a feeling that Boris might not run...no particular reason just a feeling in my water. Think it might be a battle between May and Gove.......only because i haven't heard to much about the others.
I guess every one will say that Boris is on the run.......I don't think so.....it isn't his time yet. He is cleverer than people give him credit for...........just not yet.

Like Corbyn, McDonnell, May, Javid and many others did? Theresa May is a Leaver that positioned herself on the wrong side. Corbyn and McDonnell are leavers. The Unions are leavers. The Unions got behind remain to give the PLP Blairites the rope to hang themselves. Corbyn and McDonnell had to play the game.

This is politics. It is the same in real life. You surround yourself with like minded people. You give your support to things and people that are most likely to achieve some of the things that you want. The reality is that life is full of coalitions where compromise is made to get a small part of what you want and the people that make it to the top are normally people that have had to concede the most ground to get the various hierarchical groups below them to support them. The person at the top rarely has much power at all other than to try and keep all those that prop them up by conceding ground all over the place so they remain supporting them.

The PM is the fame / celebrity position but holds almost no power as as the leader you have had to give way to all those different opinions below you. It is those below the kingmakers that have all the power within government. Mandelson, Gove.

If Gove makes the final 2 I will be surprised. What you see and hear is not what is really happening and the media is part of the circle that is quite happy to carry the "on the face of it" story when that isn't the story. Gove is assumably there to stop Boris which I said yesterday and now the question is who will stop May.

Who makes the first move. Can you counter attack. Can you defend you position while you are attacking. Responding to a quick break. Trying to break down a defense. Making a substitution to affect the outcome. Changing formation to respond to the other side's tactics.

In politics there is a lot of Leicester beating the Man Utds to the title but it takes years of putting up with Manchester Utd winning before that happens and it needs all the other big beasts beating each other for that to happen.

By no means a fan of her whatsoever, but I'll say that I think Theresa May easily came over as the most assured, confident and commanding character to have announced that they are going to run for the leadership role.

Boris planned it this way. Lets May or Gove take over when the country is in the ****. May will help the pound rise again but will **** over the British people. Then in 2020 Boris will challenge her and win, people will have forgotten what he did as the UK will be ****ed.

    Hail PM Boris the saviour!!!

Angela Eagle's local Labour Party have called for her to resign as an MP because they support Corbyn. It gets better and better.

Way off the mark. Boris has misjudged his chance and will not get anything other than a top job in future. How high that job, who knows but he would only ever get the PM job now as a makeweight to bridge a spell out of government like Corbyn has now. He has shot his bolt. Jumped too early.
