We will see...
(Well hopefully we won't. But you get what I mean.)
Yes I know what you mean. I am just explaining that while this "house of cards" stuff might seem like all "cloaks and daggers" and nothing to do with me or you but the reality is that it has everything to do with me and you.
We both want our world to be a certain way and we vote for what we think will produce as much as possible (however little it may be) of what our own personal wishes are. We want things that are influenced by our families, our interests, our opinions. We don't just do what we want. We make compromises because we consider how what we want will affect our families, our friends, our communities.
The politician we vote for has to then make the same decision. (mine is a he so I will say he) He has to consider the people that will vote for him, bring investment to help the people who vote for him. Consider what they require in terms of jobs, lifestyle, communities. He has to make sure that he is working for businesses and communities to produce the best results for his communities.
He then has to assess how to get as much (however little it may be) of those wishes as he can and the best route to get them. Does he have the standing to get others to join him or should he support someone else that will give him some of what he wants. The people he supports are doing the same and up and up. The PM has to concede the most because he is having to conced to people who have conceded to others and so on right down the chain.
So my opinion is worthwhile and I have every much as large a stake in it as those at the top. Like voting, if you don't vote then you can't affect the vote. Similarly my little campaigns are based on what I believe is best for me conceding things I would like because of how they might affect those around me. I then campaign for someone I want as leader but at the same time campaign for my MP to support that person I want as leader. There are many more like me doing the same. Social media has made this so much easier than writing a letter. My MP can watch social media and assess the "mood." He will eventually throw his support behing someone that he thinks will give the most benefit to his constituents so he can keep his job.
So my little campaign might sound silly but thousands of little campaigns give the MP a way to gauge the best route though this maze.
The fact you see people up there saying they want to be PM is not the real story. This isn't about who gets the most votes now and then how those top 2 get the most supporters from those that are eliminated. Of the top 2 one may be there to stop the other main candidate running off with it and once they have a gauge of where things stand may drop out before or after the first round to bolster one of those in 3rd or 4th. Their supporters will mostly move the same way.
This is life, not just politics. Consessions to help those that depend on you to achieve the best result.
Businesses do not go around treating people like **** if they are sensible. If they do that then they lose the best people and struggle to get that calibre of people again. They assess how to achieve what they want whilst being able to keep their employees (and shareholders) happy. They make concessions.
Yes these politicians may seem ruthless and may seem to be all out for themselves but at the end of the day it is a hierarchy where the bottom holds the power because without the votes they do not get voted in and without those lower politicians supporting the higher politicians then they lose their power and someone else comes through. Boris just found that out.
There are only 89 MPs that have stated their support so far. There are many more to go and the 5 candidates will be talking to each other to try and persuade them to join with them as well as other MPs (whether already stated or not) to support them.
