Beddytare - I disagree about the mess being more with the Tories. The Tory party big beasts know where they are and what they stand for and they will represent the people they always have. The current Blairite Labour moderates are so far from their voter base that it is hard to see how they could possibly recover and stop a UKIP advance without a complete overhaul.
The problem in British politics is that Blair moved the Labour party from the left of centre to nothng but the centre. Cameron tried to do the same but the difference is that when Blair made that move he brought in a whole majority of similar centrists where the Tory party retained a lot of its right of centre and can recover that.
It is much better when the 2 main parties are left and right of centre and have to then encapsulate the centre ground within their policy than it is to be in the centre already because you then have to choose whether to encapsulate some right or some left and it is very hard to move from the centre.
You take your base and then move towards the centre to gain more votes. If you are in the centre already you then have virtually nowhere else to go.
Labour need to get back to being a working class party but with a proper leader that is not far far left and is not seen as an ageing student activist.

If parliament ignores the result of the people you can expect major unrest. If it had gone either way that would be the case. Parliament is there to serve the people. We don't want a modern day western democracy revolution.

I voted remain. To go back against the result now would make a mockery of British politics. There would need to be some very serious evidential commentary from the leave team for that to happen and even then, I am not sure it should be done. If it did, I would suggest some people should be facing criminal proceedings for misleading the public, if such a thing could be done.
I agree with you Teddy. There is no one in the Tory camp who is suitable to become PM. But there is a standout candidate as he is a conservative to the core, looks to get the economy moving forward, would see fair play over Gibraltar, is strong on maintaining the union. And that man is ...... Mariano Rajoy. He is perfect for the job of leading the Tories. Go and get him.

Some sources report that Cameron has really stitched up Bull*** as he is the one who has to decide on activating Clause 50 of the Lisbon Treaty to begin the exit process. Nice one Dave.
OK. How about the Gibraltarian PM then? He has conservative values and is a vastly better guy than anything we have in Westminster.

I have no doubt there is an increase in far right actions and that should be addressed severely and in many cases has flushed out the scum of this country so that they can be dealt with however I would also suggest that it will be noticed more than it was prior. There has always been a section of society that have shouted these things which has gone under the radar. It is being highlighted now which is good because it shows these people for what they are but it shouldn't all be assumed that this is something new.
I live on a council street and one of the St George flags that fly all year round from many people's windows round here has EDL written on it and Go Home written on it. This was there before the referendum was even promised and the guy that lives in that upstairs flat (who has been on Police Interceptors once when I watched it) is not representative of his neighbours nor the rest of this street. He is a minority voice in this community and I have heard him drunkenly shout out from his window "Go home Pa**" when someone I know well, who was born in the UK has walked past, down the street.
There will be a rise in this sort of event. Those people should be dealt with but the vast majority of these isolated and minority views were already there and not caused by but highlighted because of this result and should not be jumped on as being caused by it.
They should now deal with things that they have ignored for a long time. Where it is illegal it should be dealt with however we also have to take into account that people are allowed to voice their opinion in this country because of Freedom of Speech and unless people direct their abuse at a personal and direct it at individuals it is not illegal to say "I hate immigrants" it is illegal to attack someone or threaten someone because they are an immigrant or ethnic minority.
He's not an MP so there is no point in mentioning him. It's a non starter and can't happen just as Ruth Davidson is not an option (but at least she is in the UK party). There are plenty of options for PM. Although I would love to see Boris try to sort out the mess I would prefer someone who when negotiating can look at the concerns of all the UK and not just the leave voters.
EDIT: I don't mean I am a Boris fan because I'm not.
As politicians all speak gobbledegook, it doesn't really matter what language he speaks . Furthermore, I don't believe you have a racist bone in your body.
The nearest to PM material in the Tories is ......?????? No one!!! Likewise with Labour. If Mrs Thatcher had been PM now, she would never ever had sanctioned a referendum to satisfy the whimsical wishes of some sections of society.
Do you know, I know I voted to leave and I haven't changed my mind but I really can understand the nervousness of the remain campaign. There doesn't appear to be an iota of ideas as to how we will proceed now the vote has taken place. The leave campaign appear to have not given it too much thought as if they didn't expect to win. On the other hand the remain side don't appear to have given it too much thought either if it went against them as if they expected to win and didn't need to bother.

The link below is about the people that have vote overwhelmingly to leave but from years ago. The picture in the bottom right of the collage at the top is a corner of my street. I don't recognise their description of abject poverty because at the end of the day welfare payments which are the same across the country are quite generous when you account for housing costs etc here compared to many other areas of the country but the unemployment figures of this estate and of virtually no-one reaching university are pretty accurate.

And this is an article about the other end of my street. It might be strange to comprehend how things can be so different just over the space of 800 yards but this street is about 200 houses long and at one end where the following article is talking about we call Belfast. It is your typical sink hole estate street. Conversely at the other end of the street just 400 to 800 yards away it is completely different. Yes still poor people but no druggies up this end, no violence, no anti social behaviour. It is as if the road that crosses the centre of my street is some portal where one side is the perfect example for CH5 to make their latest exploitative "life on the Dole" program where if they came our side then Life on the Dole would not be a ratings winner:

The people the other side of the road are highly unlikely to vote. The people my side are because we want to work. The people the other side are in front of their house drinking all day in the summer, and in their lounge's drinking (and other things) in the other months. This end of the street there are many more cars than there are at the other end of the street which tends to show how different the priorities of these people are. This end of the street has many EU migrants living in it. That other end has none. It would be foolish of the council to put migrants that end because it would not end nicely yet 400 to 800 yards further up there are not these problems.

The Government did have a plan for a leave vote and have been trying to calm everyone all weekend. George Osborne gave the facts this morning.
Boris is wrong there IF he actually used the word "will".
What the BDI leader actually said was "It would be ridiculous of the EU to not have an free trade agreement with the UK" The BDI leader did not add any caveats in terms of having to accept movement of labour etc. It was a simple "we want a free trade agreement with the UK."
I assume that he was talking about not punishing Britain although he is probably meaning something like Norway or Switzerland where they do have to accept free movement.
