Might just be about time that Labour had a woman leader (i'm discounting Beckett and Harman as they were only temporary). EDIT or we could just have one with a woman's name...Hilary Benn. Imagine two Hilary's leading on both sides of the pond.
They've already done that meme same picture with wording on the bottom. lol Another one from today from a forum fav:
I have still not got over my anger and disappointment at the outcome. I cannot believe that my generation have been so willing to throw away our membership of the European Union but young people also have to accept agreed deal of the responsibility too. The outcome was more important to them than me and yet the majority couldn't be arsed to vote.
I was given an analogy with football yesterday. I'm going to give another one back. I have a principal with youth football. Teach and develop the kids to play football and get them to learn and understand the game. Make them better players. Ignore all the clambering for win at all costs. I talked and talked to the parents about it over the years I've coached this set of boys, each time they twitch about 'winning.' They are now on board. Do the right thing. I stand by my principals and beliefs. I told those people what they were and why I was doing it. They could get on board or leave. Some left. All but one who previously left came back. My principals haven't changed. It seems that standing by principals is not as important in the election of a party leader. I hear about political Ideologies and principals. I hear about doing what is right for he long term and then I hear about bending those views to win. Do the right thing and choose someone that has true labour views, principals and ignore the clamour for image and selling. Otherwise you're being short termist and not true to your views. Stand or fall by your principals, or they devalue. Looking for someone who will be more appealing, is the slippery path to the media and marketing route taken by most. I thought Labour had stopped that recently with Corbyn. I predict that those values go and they choose the most marketable. And so the merrygoround will continue.
Someone dissing Andy Burnham? He is perfect to try and restore Labour's credibility in the North with his tone of voice and real concern about the issues that affect people with regard to health, education, and employment. And he would make mincemeat of the hollow words often emitted by Bullshit Johnson, should he become PM, but IMO he (Bull****) is surely too ugly to be considered for the post.
She's another blairite that won't get the working class vote back. She is also tarred by her being married to Ed Balls who is hated.
It isn't just the Blairites in the Labour party. Politicians need to watch what they are saying and who they are directing their statements at. Anna Soubry's outbursts with her faux tears and emotion are going to be very hard for her to recover from when she is in an East Midlands seat. One comment on nottinghampost which is fairly representative of many other comments was this: How out of touch can you get? Yes, madam - I may not have met an immigrant, but that didn't stop my most recent employers making me redundant and giving my job to an immigrant. There is only one this in the UK that has made things worse for the average working (class) man or woman than immigration. That is Out Of Touch politicians. In the last 7 years, I have seen my income FALL by over 75% as a result of having to change jobs as a result of immigration. In two of the three changes, I actually had to train my own replacement! You people in the House of Commons have NO IDEA what the real world is like. If you did, the "Mother of all Parliaments" would be filled with foreign members. They would be doing the job for MUCH lower salaries, and they wouldn't DARE submit an expenses claim. Time to re-connect with the people of the U.K., madam! As I expected though George and Boris have been quick this morning to get "a" message out there and like I said George Osborne has announced that they do have contingency plans for the referendum result. The plan for the result was always in the hands of the government and it was misleading for them to stay silent and ask the levers if they had a plan when the civil service was only available to the government.
The only thing that Andy Burnham can have credit for is his handling of things to do with Hillsborough. Again he is a Blairite that doesn't have much pull outside of Liverpool/Manchester if any and is tainted by the Mid Staffs scandal.
Actually, I do apologise to a degree - Burnham was outstanding on Hillsborough, and that cannot be forgotten.
Interesting read.... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-legal-legislation-constitution-a7105181.html
Do you know folks one thing that has come out from all of this mess is who is best to lead each party. On the labour side is there a real alternative to Corbyn? There isn't too much agreement there it would seem, at least not at the moment. The Tories are in a worse position in my view, I am not sure we can trust any of the leading candidates although I think we all agree it has to be someone from the outies camp......... For the next few weeks it might brighten our days while each one fights it out......
