Nothing is in isolation, other popular "working class" car manufacturers are also based in Europe. Make all of them more expensive and suddenly people are putting off buying a new car, they are running their old one for longer and demand drops.

Is this hard for you to grasp.
Im merely stating that a trade tariff wont make to much difference to someone that can afford a Merc , Porsche etc.

I wouldn't define Working Class by a salary. There are cheaper EU made cars than Mercs.

I was talking to another accountant who told me a client of his made £70,000 by betting when the odds were 7/1 on for Remain.
I's not like the bookies had a body of knowledge and experience to guide them. They had the polls and that was it.

I don't know why - you talked about BMW to start out with as an example of car manufacturer and as people have pointed out to you, non-high end motors are also made in the EU that are very popular in the UK.

I wasn't reading the discussion you were having. I just read the bit about you referring to working class.
If somebody can only afford £10,000 for a car and another person can only afford £100,000 for a car they would be equally affected by a 10% increase in price. I agree that some people may afford a lot more but like the £100,000 car but I doubt there's many who aren't affected by price increases.

I'm not offended but I am confused as I don't understand what point you are trying to make. Why don't you try again.

I see the standard of music has been seriously devalued since Brexit.

I agree completely, and I've been saying the same since Trump first appeared on the scene.
The American people have had enough and are demanding a sea-change. Just look at how the price of almost everything has sky-rocketed under this administration. But wages have stagnated (in effect, gone down because of real inflation -- not the bogus version they force-feed us).
Almost everything the Dolt-in-Chief has inflicted upon us during his reign has been divisive -- not least, all his same-sex marriage and transgender chicanery (imho).
Meanwhile, he allows professional jobs to be exported to rival nations such as India and Mexico, while our home-grown talent has to mortgage their life away if they choose to get an education.
I could go on -- and I know you certainly could -- but I'll sit and stew on it for now.

Lots of plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, etc., "earn" far more than many highly trained engineers (not mechanics). So to which class do the first group and the second group each belong?
