Donald Tusk is saying Article 50 could take 7 years to go through. A lot can change in that time and if the EU is prepared to reform to make it a viable system then perhaps there's a chance that we don't ultimately come out
Really? Because their starting position yesterday was so healthy? Do you now just how bad it is in the southern states, even France? There's no fluffy pillows there mate!
Unlikely, that would mean 7 years of us paying the bill for Europe with zero negotiating power. Like telling your boss you quit then paying him to let you work for free. Europe have made it clear they want us out ASAP, and anything more than 2 years would need their agreement. They want us to start closer to next week than October.
Perhaps. But you can't call these people who voted Leave progressive, open-minded cosmopolitans can you?! The whole purpose of education is to broaden minds and encourage people to accept and understand cultures different to their own, so in that sense you might call them uneducated. And there are certainly racists amongst their number, mixed in with a large number of xenophobics (different principles to racists) and very fearful people, more likely to find them there than on the Remain side anyway
You're wrong. Well you're right on the Scottish parliament, but Scottish Labour would be insane not to side with a populist SNP move for a referendum knowing that at the next Scottish parliament elections they'd be hosed. Sturgeon will get her majority sooner or later. And as yesterday proved, don't always rely on logical arguments about things like oil to overcome flag-waving and jingoism.
They've just had elections in Scotland, by the time the next ones come around the landscape could be very different and many of the fears about a brexit eased. Scottish labour won't support a move that could result in pulling out of the Union. So she can wait until the next elections and then try to get a majority which she failed last time around, then try and get uk government approval and then try for a referendum. Last time one of the key reasons Scotland stayed in the uk was down to the economic plan by those wanting to leave not being believed to be strong enough, and as I've said on the current oil prices and volatility it is hugely far away from working anymore. The idea of Scotland leaving the UK in the near future is just sabre rattling from the SNP.
What's happened has happened. Prob mean **** all difference for at least 2 years and probably bigger all will happen after that anyway. We vote for a new PM every few years who promise different things and I've never noticed a difference so meh
"These people" - as if all people who voted out can be generalised under one set of criteria. I'd like to think I'm open minded, progressive and had a good education and I'm certainly not a racist, but I voted to leave.
Bankers and industrialists join politicians as the most hated people on the planet and doubtless few would have any sympathy for them. However, if one in the eye for them actually brings the whole shebang down around our ears what has anyone gained?
So you don't accept that this is bigger than our 5 year merry-go-round? You really haven't been paying attention, have you?
I'm not saying abandon it altogether. But they will stay or go where they make the most money..EU no EU..I'm also not saying demonise them but shift away from so heavy a reliance...if doom is true they are going anyway so we have to plan an economy with that in mind anyway...
Who knows Saint who knows. Like I said, no one knows what the future holds. It may be good it may be bad. End of the day, only live once so just enjoy the ride and not get too stressed and worries about things out of your control Being in or out of EU won't change or stop me doing what I like doing day to day so
Time for Liverpool to declare its independence from the UK as you guys have nothing in common with the new wave of Tories that are going to form the next Government. While Cameron was bad, his successor is going to be a hell of a lot worse. God we need a Harold Wilson ... best post-war PM by a country wide mile.
The point is you shouldn't be calling them anything. They have as much right as anyone else to vote as they please and deserve respect no matter how they've voted! I'll accept there are racists amongst the ranks but that doesn't apply to everyone. I didn't vote but if I had I'd have probably gone with leave purely based on population numbers. I have no issue with multi national areas etc, I live in one. What I don't like is having to wait four weeks for a doctor's appointment or queuing for am hour to buy a packet of chewing gum! (I know it won't solve it) Not to mention the absolute pigs ear the "remain" camp made of the campaign The reason I didn't vote is because I didn't feel it knew enough about the consequences and I still don't. But others claiming this, that and the other will happen is just ridiculous when politicians have said they don't know.
IBWT has a german car.... i think his car should be deported immediately. he should be made drive a biritsh car... like an old rover or maybe a morgan
Don't tend to drink European wine (favour new world) or beer either...so I'm OK! Thank God for the rise of micro breweries...
