In normal elections voters are being asked which party they voted for. Broadcasting that is very unlikely to make people change the party they vote for if they haven't yet voted.
This is an either / or vote. Announcing early polling data could influence peoples voting intentions who haven't yet voted.
That's why its illegal to poll - influentiability.
It was also that way in past referendums.
