I can see the way this is going! But what I'll say is Siemens was used as an example! And this is the same Siemens who've had to put out more job adverts because of the slow uptake?

That's not at all true. Steel comes in many different shapes and forms with various different treatments.

The particular steel imported from Sweden is a very particular specialist type which we are ordering in small volumes. Presumably Britain doesn't make the particular alloy in question.

The term military grade also means absolutely **** all.

When you say 'you can see which way this is going' do you mean that I'll tie you up with logic?

so which uk turbine manufacturers are based on the mainland? You're right though EU grants have benefitted Hull by providing incentives for Siemens to come here.

What do you mean 'suck up to Germans?' I asked you where are all the uk companies vying to build turbines in Hull?

And i didn't use them as en example to stay in Europe, I clearly said it doesn't affect me.

If the Germans pull out of the U.K. Because we've voted out! Do you think the country will crumble and not be able to find some one else to build them? We F'king built windmills century's ago! <doh>

WE DONT NEED ****ING TURBINES. You seem to think we need turbines here and asked Germans to come and build them for us rather than have a UK company do it. That's not what Siemens are doing. The turbines being built by Siemens in Hull will be used all around the world, they are not to satisfy a UK turbine shortage.

    Jesus ****ing Christ.

There were a number of industries with transferable skills.BAe being one.

As for gains, it's an interesting attempt at spin, to claim getting a fraction of the money back that had been lost by EU actions in other areas, not to mention the industry they've kindly funded to leave these shores.

All in all, as wum's go, I'll give you 4/10 for this one. <ok>

I didn't say they didn't have the skills, I asked why aren't they doing it then?

Because they were reasonably busy building aeroplanes and other things when siemens first started to look at building turbines, initially in Spain. There was a delay because UK plc couldn't give a commitment to windfarms to an extent because of EU measures. Siemens were wary having being burned by similar EU meddling in Spain.

So why did you go on about us not needing to rely on Germans cos we used to build windmills? We're not relying on Germans, that's precisely the ****ing point!!
