We all want someone to hit the ground running, and grab what is a huge opportunity for forward momentum. No one wants to take a step back. I think the habit of getting a manager who is new to the league but with bold ideas and a desperate hunger to succeed (yes, even at the risk of letting us down along the line) on a professional and personal level, in order to set up a dream job at a glamour club like, say, Everton (yes, that bit is sarcastic) fits our profile more than a journeyman who still doesn't quite know himself, lacks real belief, and may well be jaded after two attempts at success with two clubs considerably bigger than us. May the club's hierarchy have been doing more genuine research than all of our obvious attempts at plucking the three or four candidates who would most likely be linked to any club in the PL top half who need a manager at the moment! Aka the current toast of Europe, the well-timed unemployed one, the young gun outsider, and the one who's linked to everyone.

The thing that irks me the most about this move is that this is really not about Koeman trying to better himself. Take Lallana for example, I think he was very stupid with how he went about his move and I will always think badly of him for doing so, but he went to Liverpool, a much bigger club with greater chances of trophies. Footballers have a short career and this was his chance to better himself. The same goes for Morgan, Clyne, Lovren and Shaw, all to a certain extent.
Now for Koeman, this is a sideways step and is purely about money. Everton may be a bigger club historically, with a large fan base in a city famous for its football. Right now though, we are at our highest stock for years and a better footballing side than Everton. They are not a step up, and combined with the lying, it's really destroyed my view of someone I really liked having as our manager. Crash and burn Ron, crash and burn.

I doubt there was anyone who didn't believe Koeman. He was so forthright about the importance of keeping to his word and seeing out his contract. We were all taken in and now you can't help but feel let down and almost taken for a mug.
We have debated the intricacies of whether he lied or not. But he claimed to be holier than thou and he's sold his soul to the devil at the first opportunity
Like others have said, I can handle lies and dishonesty from people I expect it from. But Ron seemed like a genuine guy and he's basically made us all Look a right bunch of mugs! I'm not upset he's gone far from it, but I have little respect left for the man now, and it sounds like he wasn't the nice guy we all thought he was looking from the outside. Appears he's pissed of a fair few within the club and now it's all leaked due to him deciding to grab the money and run, or so it would appear.
Next season should be interesting, can't see him getting anything but abuse, and to be fair I wouldn't blame anyone for doing so.

The new direction isn't just about the manager, it's a comprehensive plan resulting from a ground up study of the club, and where we aim to be.

This may be Ron having some self-doubt that he will ever end up with his dream job at Camp Nou, so he has decided to cash in now. He will have to do remarkably well at Everton to attract a really top job now, winning a cup or qualifying for Europa won't cut it. He needs to take them to the knockout stages of the Champions League and he may not have time to do it. If he'd continued the progress of the last 2 seasons with us he'd be nailed on as the Holland manager followed by Barcelona, but now he has to start all over again. Poor judgment driven by money.

Completely. But you need to be good enough to raise your game to what the given season demands. History tells Poch achieved his team's target, pretty much with what he was given - that's all he could do. AVB couldn't, with the proceeds of £85m+ in Bale money (I know there was dispute over whether or not he got to choose the players coming in).
He also has bad taste in players. Wanted players like Hulk, and didn't want players he got like Eriksen.
Saintsweb also reckon Pellegrini is at Lime Wood Hotel. Anyone near enough to go for a midnight prowl?

Excellent. I think your main aim should be to top that blurry picture of Jay Rodriguez we got in 2012 by taking a night-vision image of Pellegrini.
Juanmi? Could that be why his move out of here has been stalling, or did he genuinely just not settle over here? He certainly wasn't given much game time despite us apparently rating him for the future.
It's all starting to come out then ... for professionals like Blackmore/Peach to be so, let's say, out there with their views, Koeman must have really hacked them off with this.
