Happy with that retained list and will be glad to see Elmo and Hudd sign new deals if they want them. Elmo was by all accounts utterly appalling for periods this year, after the Huddersfield match I openly said i'd gladly not see him in a city shirt ever again, but something seemed to click in those last 6-7 games and him and Dave finally started playing together without any attitude and our right side looked so much stronger for it. If they have buried whatever issues they had then great. As for Hudd, i'd be interested to see how he's done in the not606 MOM voting for the last 3 months of the season in comparison to the rest, for me along with Dave he's been our best player from March onwards.
We definitely need two proper strikers. Big money signings. And a skilful run rings around defenders for a laugh type winger. After that, depending what's left, a big marquee signing in the middle, and just the odd squad player here and there.
With the new tv deal does anyone think we can maybe afford to strengthen all areas sufficiently? Anybody know what our wage bills at? And what cash we'l get from the new to deal? Is it paid at the start of our season? Surely we can afford to spend 40m or is that a tad ambitious? Think Westwood for 3m would be too good to pass up on myself
Tigers Confirm Retained List The Club has submitted its retained list for the 2016/17 season and can now confirm the departures of Sone Aluko and Ryan Taylor following the expiry of their contracts. Eldin Jakupovic (pictured) is set to remain at the KC Stadium with the Club exercising its option to offer the goalkeeper a further one-year deal, whilst also entering into negotiations to further extend his stay at the KC Stadium. Tom Huddlestone and Ahmed Elmohamady have also been offered new contracts with their current deals due to expire. Vice-Chairman Ehab Allam said: “Both Ahmed and Tom contributed hugely towards our success in the end-of-season Play-Offs and we are keen for both players to remain with us on our return to the Premier League. “We’re also pleased that Eldin Jakupovic will be continuing his career here. The development he has made during his time with this Club has been clear to see this season, including a quite exceptional performance and clean sheet against Arsenal in the FA Cup, and culminating in his performances in the Play-Offs. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank both Sone Aluko and Ryan Taylor for their efforts and wish them both well for their future careers.” Taylor leaves having made 12 appearances since arriving at the Club on a free transfer last summer, with Aluko departing after a four-year stay in East Yorkshire. The Nigerian international played 108 times for the Tigers, scoring 15 goals, and helped the Club to two promotions and a first-ever FA Cup Final appearance. Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden, who both spent the 2015/16 season on loan with the Tigers from Arsenal, have now returned to their parent club. http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/...etained-list-3132486.aspx#SOsmOdmHmr0Vj6Td.99
Injuries screwed us last time around....we'll have to spend close to that to avoid the same thing happening again. Do we buy 4 - £10m players or 8 - £5m players though? Or one really expensive player (a striker/attacking mid) with a bunch of cheaper ones + loans. We need quality (with a good injury record) rather than quantity IMO.
I don't get the love for Powell to be honest. Showed a little bit in a couple of games, but hardly enough to warrant a deal unless it was on a very low wage.
I'd sign him, 22, wages wouldn't be too hefty, can play in a couple of positions and he knows where the back of the net is....
Powell needs a contract he's the perfect stand in for Diame when he's off form or injured. Tidy player and not often someone with his quality is available to pick up for nowt.
I would certainly sign Powell, he just needs a good run of games, and I am sure he would be a good buy.
Unfortunately he reminds me a lot of Ramirez, where we said the same but he kept getting injured. Who knows, I wasn't keen on the signing at the time for other reasons which I've since retracted, but the doubts about him remain.
If Bruce plays diame behind Hernandez were getting relegated again lol Massive gamble relying on Hernandez to get the goals to keep us up scored 4 last time in the prem Hard to say depends who's available and what the financial demands are Definatly need a goalscorer though it's a must I'm not convinced Hernandez will score a lot this time around, and I think diame behind him isn't good enough as an attacking force. I think we'l probably have to spend big on a striker I think the fact huddlestones got a new contract is quite scary does Bruce plan to persist with him as our deep lying playmaker? Seems Bruce could stick to the team plan that got us relegated Hernandez as our starting striker Diame behind him Huddlestone as midfield focal point with result in us getting relegated again
We never saw the best of Ramirez, as he was injured more often than not. There is a good player in there, and he did do well at Boro this last season. Powell has quality, but like a lot of players needs a good run of games to get the best out of him. Still think he is worth a punt, if the wages he wants are not over the top.
I guess that's my point though, I guess at that price he's worth the punt, just not sure about his ability to string games together.
If Bruce thinks/does that then he's ****ing mental and needs to go....we only just got out of the Championship with that! The only regular starter out of that lot has got to be Hernandez...but that's on the proviso that he has an equally good or better striker/attacking mid next/behind him.
He's far better than Clucas, better than Snodgrass in open play, and a hundred times better than Elmo when Elmo can't be arsed, as he hasn't been for the entire season.
