"I think we're gonna win it...." . is what I used to say every tournament until about 4 years ago and then I stopped saying it. I don't get the England tat out the attic anymore, however I will be shouting the boys on. Come on England!
I don't think Drinkwater is our best midfielder either. We've got Alli, Dier and I think Wilshere is better as well. It's just a matter of fitness with him.
no, "Tat" as in crap stuff purchased from supermarkets and Mike Ashley's jumble sale. I used to pick a game and have a BBQ on the day for people to come and sing and shout at the television whilst getting drunk. The house would be full of all sorts of England rubbish. Even I (one who usually gets very excited around tournaments) have toned it down a little. Edit: England V Paraguay in 2006 World Cup was particularly good. When my mate phoned my 2 days before the game to say his family would be coming down from Staffs, my wife asked how many were coming. She was horrified to hear 38 as the answer. All piled into my lounge for kick off
I can actually understand Woy going for Rose ahead of Bertrand. Of course, we all know who is the better player, but there is something to be said for building an international team around a core of players that play week-in, week-out in the same team. I don't know how much I rated all of the Neville(s), Beckham, Scholes, Butt (and later Rooney) combo as individuals, but I do think England were a better outfit for them all being in the same side. It could've been a Saints England spine a couple of years ago at/ after the World Cup of course, if every single Saints-and-England player without exception, had not moved on either that summer or the one afterwards. So Spurs are the new team with most players who can play together for England, and sad though I am to say it, if it was me I would probably play Rose and Walker with Dier, Alli & Kane. #getsTinHat
So we've got injury concerns over two midfielders (Henderson and Wilshere), but instead we pick a currently-injured Daniel Sturridge and then pick another striker, who's yet to amass 20 pro games and is still 18, and leave behind a midfielder who has just had the season of his life...
.. depends what you mean by 'best' ...he is certainly a better defensive midfielder than all but Dier and Dier is really a centre half ... Woy is getting some pelters on this : please log in to view this image http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/daniel-sturridge-makes-england-euro-8088479 http://talkingbaws.com/2016/05/ever...danny-drinkwater-has-been-dropped-by-england/
I don't agree - I think Dier is the best English DM but everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Edit: Misread your post first time.
... no real surprise there ... you were praying that Spurs would overhaul us if I recall rightly ... just out of interest ... how many full games watching Drinkwater this season have you based your opinion on? ... but back on point - Cahill is playing wuth hip injections, stones is out of form and Smalling has looked dodgy in his last few games ... Dier may need to play at centre-half at some stage ... who then is the most natural defensive midfielder ... no question ... Drinkwater.
