You mean in the days of the Empire? lol Being part of the EU directly helps us penetrate markets all over the globe, not just within the member states, due to the collective deals struck in emerging markets. Closing the door on the power of that collective and going out in a limb, would in purely economic terms, be complete madness. People need to fully comprehend the magnitude of what is being proposed here, as I'm hearing some weird and wonderful thoughts on the pros and cons when speaking to all sorts of people about it. The level of understanding is extremely low in general terms. The mere fact that, the utter cock womble, and Tory twat, Boris bumbling Johnson is leading the charge should be enough for Joe Public to realise that this is a ****e idea though
Edward Heath took Britain into Europe on 1 January 1973. Also members of his party are leading the OUT campaign. I wonder if he is turning in his grave?.
The internet just reveals how thoroughly crackers so many people are. It gives a spurious validation to opinions that would never have got through the insanity filter of any traditional means of broadcasting. The plus side of this is at least we now have a better understanding of the depths of ignorance we have to deal with.
I said this earlier, yet amazingly he has so many people who follow him. Boris is either a bumbling buffoon, or a smart guy pretending to be a bumbling buffoon. I'm not sure which is worse - neither could be trusted to tell you whether it's day or night. The idea that this man could possibly ever be PM is staggering.
The idea that the labour party though the Corbin could be pm is equally frightening to me. Slobbering communist wannabe.
Social, cultural and economic rights which are not covered by the ECHR or under ECtHR jurisprudence... otherwise found only in UN's ICSCE which doesn't have domestic application. The UK has a veto on Turkish membership - as do other states - and at any rate Turkey won't be a member for decades realistically. We can't be forced into the Euro by anything other than the markets. No legal mechanism for it. We already do trade with the rest of the world and will do so regardless of the EU. The key to the EU is that the established states help build the economies of the developing (largely post-communist) states and eventually benefit from that in trade and security. It's a concept built from classical Rome. Finally.. if the UK does leave, there will be two steps: (i) massive chaos across business and law as everyone prepares for the change; (ii) massive replacement of EU regulations and directives in domestic law with renegotiated treaties between the EU and UK. ie - nothing major will change. We'll just be negotiating from the outside.
Sorry haha it was more I had had a glass of red too many. I would agree that the Remain campaign has been pretty awful... and our wonderful politicians have been doing it for years. Issue is the thing being put to referendum imo... it's such a major change that you have to, but it's such a complicated change that the experts themselves struggle with it! My fear is the anti-EU vote taps into the growing nationalistic trend in England... that people will vote out to feel like they're making themselves safer. I think the remain campaign should have been a practical run through of all the EU has done for us. Monty Python style. I'll give one example... the most famous ECJ case is Van Gend en Loos - a Dutch case. Essentially the company were trading chemicals across the freedom of movement zone and the Dutch reclassified a chemical into a higher customs bracket. The company complained and the case went the whole way through the Dutch system and on appeal to the ECJ. The ECJ found the Dutch government had breached their obligation to lower customs tariffs under the Treaty of Rome. But most importantly, the ECJ didn't just say the Dutch had done wrong and make them sort it out - they ordered the Dutch pay the company back the money they'd illegally taken from them. This means that EU law has what's called 'direct effect' - any individual person can take an action for a breach of their EU given rights. That's a pretty big weapon to hold governments to account. The court summed it up nicely - 'Independently of the legislation of member states, community law therefore not only imposes obligations on individuals but is also intended to confer upon them rights which become part of their legal heritage'. So you can see an example of how the EU has added to our strong court system - it's also cemented the doctrine of proportionality into our common law.
It is ironic that someone (Priti Patel) in the leave campaign is saying that the remain campaign leader i.e the PM is too rich to understand the poor's concerns. Because of course the main proponents of leaving: the billionaire newspaper owners, the Boris Johnsons, the Tory lords, and the leave Tory MPs have only the best interests of the poor at heart. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ar-escalates-Leave-campaigners-target-PM.html This same person famously wrote 3 years ago in her book about business in the uk: "once they enter the workplace, the British are among the worst idlers in the world". An interesting article on the subject http://www.independent.co.uk/voices...-will-vote-in-the-eu-referendum-a7051681.html
Couldn't care less about this, it's only a matter of time before all is resolved regardless. Once Boris Johnson and Donald Trump are in power we'll be sorted
That's the point. The Leave side keeps protesting that the other side is scare mongering but they cannot tell us what their future will be or even their vision would look like - e.g what type of relationship they would prefer. All they know and want is Britain out of the EU.
It's brilliant isnt it. But we can see the spurious ****e for what it is bcos we have two equal heavyweights at each other's throats. Imagine the level of bullshit that bypasses the insanity filter when these guys have a shared agenda and there's nobody equally powerful to counter them? Remember that folks the next time one of these fckers wants to lead us into another illegal conflict and everyone's singing from the same hymn sheet.
What I don't get this this. UK has the best of both worlds now We've not signed up to that shengin thing but have access to just about all the goodies. Cameron has negotiated not paying dole to economic migrants form the rest of europe right? well.... there's a vast duty free market there to exploit. we are exploiting it.. to told them to bugger off when they tried to get us in euro.. (is as much of a way as balir would say that) so... I mean we've had our cake and eaten it. we've got lots of good **** form it but think somehow the cake will be even sweeter with a liberal dusting of duties and tariffs? I mean barring saying grams not ounces and having straight banannas.. what laws have the eurozone muppets imposed on us that didn't suit us?
As much as they bang on about immigration, I still haven't heard one plan as to what happens when we leave and the French. Belgians and Dutch start letting all the Africans on the next boat/Eurostar to Britain as they'll be entitled too, and let our Immigration sort it out when they get here. NOT ONE!
What this i hear about some absolute toe rag getting caught in the channel with 20 Albanians in a deridgeable Should throw the book at him for risking lives line that. If there's a desire to get here they will get here. The French are not happy one bit with Calais but they won't just open a flood gate irrespective.
Well if the EU is good enough for Peter Mandelson, Jeremy Corbyn and the guy from the opposite end of the political spectrum, the former Home Secretary and Forest supporter, Clarke, then it is god enough for me. Who in their right mind wants to be seen supporting smug guys like Bullshit J, Nigel Farage, IDS, Michael Gove? The REMAIN side have my vote.
