The Canary Dave

For the sake of accuracy my skinhead days were well and truly over by 1970, it was followed by shoulder length hair, hipsters, and flowery shirts with big collars, dreadful fashion.

In defence of the skinheads in the sixties to my knowledge they were neither political or racist, maybe those in East London were the exception.
I would agree with that. The first real racist skins appeared around the end of the 70's and managed to tarnish the whole group in many people's eyes. The original skins saw themselves more in terms of social class than race, and took much of their music, and inspiration, from young Jamaicans.

Me too, Ska was the music of choice at that time.

I remember Desmond Dekker's "Israelites" being played over and over again in a pub in Gt Yarmouth before a mass brawl with the 'rockers' or 'greasers'.

When you look back it was all so pointless. daft daft daft silly boys.

Clientelle, White Spirit, Toad the Wet Sprocket and Rough Measure were the bands I used to see in various venues. Sorry but as much as I appreciate other genre's I am a metal head through and through.

Morning all from a sunny Jersey. I'm off to Bristol for a weekend softball tournament - I'll be shattered when I get back on Monday if what someone said about it being a seasons worth of games in one weekend. Lucky the flight to Southampton isn't until 5.45 as I'd forgotten to wash my team shirt!. We are due to land at Southampton at 6.30, then due to the drive to Bristol dinner tonight is booked for 10.15!

Morning all from a brightening Bandit Country - just another hour of email checking and spread sheet filling and then off to fight our way round the M25 to Bournemouth! Car is parked with the important stuff - Beer, Prosecco, Wine, ready made G&T's, Peanuts, Olives...oh and a few clothes and stuff.
With you on the Barcadi BB - Rum has always been my downfall!
