I would agree with that. The first real racist skins appeared around the end of the 70's and managed to tarnish the whole group in many people's eyes. The original skins saw themselves more in terms of social class than race, and took much of their music, and inspiration, from young Jamaicans.
I remember Desmond Dekker's "Israelites" being played over and over again in a pub in Gt Yarmouth before a mass brawl with the 'rockers' or 'greasers'. When you look back it was all so pointless. daft daft daft silly boys.
Clientelle, White Spirit, Toad the Wet Sprocket and Rough Measure were the bands I used to see in various venues. Sorry but as much as I appreciate other genre's I am a metal head through and through.
Morning all from a sunny Jersey. I'm off to Bristol for a weekend softball tournament - I'll be shattered when I get back on Monday if what someone said about it being a seasons worth of games in one weekend. Lucky the flight to Southampton isn't until 5.45 as I'd forgotten to wash my team shirt!. We are due to land at Southampton at 6.30, then due to the drive to Bristol dinner tonight is booked for 10.15!
Morning all from a brightening Bandit Country - just another hour of email checking and spread sheet filling and then off to fight our way round the M25 to Bournemouth! Car is parked with the important stuff - Beer, Prosecco, Wine, ready made G&T's, Peanuts, Olives...oh and a few clothes and stuff. With you on the Barcadi BB - Rum has always been my downfall!
There's one at 2, but with the amount of us travelling, it was cheaper to fly to Southampton and be driven to Bristol. It's flybe we're going with and it's Blue Islands that fly to Bristol.
Evening all from a windy Morocco. Was about 34deg this afternoon, tonight it feels like Blackpool in February! Brrrr!
