Can't believe that Sunderland fans are genuinely blaming Rafa for our relegation. He got 13 points from 10 games and went unbeaten over the last 6 games, that included playing Man City, Tottenham and a trip to Anfield. Sunderland played very well over the last 3 months of the season and that was what made it difficult for Benitez to keep us up. But then mackems seem to like changing history at the moment. I will love it if we're swapping divisions next season, sadly think Allardyce will keep them up.

Surely to god you must realise it is you that is missing the point, ten games is 30 points on offer, he failed to keep you up, Sam was brought in to do a seemingly impossible job after a disastrous start to the season, he was successful and as such is to be admired, his choice of players to buy in January is what gives hope for next season

Where did I say Sam hadn't done a good job, the point I was making he did very well at the end to keep you up rather than Benitez doing awful if 3 wins, 3 defeats and 4 draws is relegation form than I must have been watching a different game to the one I thought for 20 odd years. Also don't forget Benitez didn't have the chance to bring his own players in. Don't worry Allardyce will sort you he made such brilliant transfers at Newcastle.
 
I wouldn`t hold Benitez responsible for not being able to save your lot. I think the damage was done long before that. As far back as Carver. That seems to be when morale and league position took a nosedive. You managed to scrape over the line (yes, I know, so did we) but then your boardroom did its thing and appointed a bloke simply not up to the job. Not only that but they kept him on long after he proved he was inept.

There is certainly an argument that things might have been different if Benitez had a window to work with but that`s something we`ll never know.

There`s a hell of a lot riding on whether or not you can keep him.

Just my opinion.

Can see your point for me things went wrong the second we sold Yohan Cabaye. Think for some reason McClaren couldn't get them playing and that was a problem. The only time I thought 37 points wouldn't be enough this year was when Sunderland beat Chelsea 3-2, as I expected Chelsea to win that game but fair play to Sunderland.
Got a bad feeling that Charnley will make a mess of it and we'll end up with someone like Neil Warnock.

So did a lot of us tbh. We put up a hell of a battle and it paid off.

I don`t know enough about Charnley to be in a position to comment but it seems plenty of your lot don`t like him much. I suppose all you can do now is wait for a decision from Benitez.

For derbies, you lot can swap places with Boro any time you like.
