To be honest I'm struggling when you actually made a racist comment. A racist comment is when you say something against a race, and all I've heard you blame, is this country for allowing this situation to happen, never have you actually said anything against a race.

 

You know exactly what I meant when I asked would you say it to his face. and you knew exactly what you were saying when you replied.

What is 'borderline racist' then? Is it just near enough to racism for you to be offended on someone elses behalf but not quite real racism??

Or, is it a card people like you play when anyone has concerns about how immigration is having a daily effect on resident peoples lives and they wish to express that concern..??

 

No I said that if I was in a position to stop racial behaviour I would.

And borderline racism is in my view subconscious prejudices that affect people's views

The statement was borderline racism. I understand that no malice was intended but my point was that racial prejudices were a partial motivation against immigration.

 

It's not like you can't sell houses when built or anything. Yes I know I have bought mine.

Entire new Cities are needed. One a year. So you favour a massive increase in council tax in Bristol to build thousands of council houses?

 

Where are these new 'towns' gonna be? each statement become more laughable?

Who are these special people who get these new houses with their rent controls or get to buy them cheap?

Can I have one?

 

It needs a revolution where anarchists and socialists take over the likes of Crest Nicholson and start building something for nothing.

 

The countryside is full off underused land. Build efficiently and land can be minimised.

And anyone can buy the houses or rent it, might hopefully depreciate house prices for the rest of the country.

And if we don't build then we'll remain ****ed and so we might as well build

 

If you want to be a structural engineer, you ought to learn about land your building on. I've explained earlier in this thread about land, and especially drainage. Where we are removing trees and hedgerows we are then losing natural drainage which is what's causing the floods we've witnessed the past years.
Then you've got unhabital areas that can't be built on.
then you've got green belt land.
Then after all that's you have land that's currently owned by farmers.

Now please explain where this land is coming from. And most importantly where is the money. Because in case it's over your head, we've sold out the gold in this country so we can't print money without going into bigger debt.

We couldn't even get to build a sports stadium on an ex rubbish tip on the arse end of the Bristol / North somerset border where we actually owned the land without a multi million pound legal battle that we barely won (Thanks in a big way to your new mate BTW.) and you think we are going to build new towns in the 'countryside'.. dream on my friend..and a lot of the laws that will stop that happening will be EU laws..how ironic.

I am beginning to run out of adjectives to describe your muddled thinking but deluded has to be the most descriptive on this occasion.

Why don't you change your mindset and start thinking about the consequences of what your saying.

 

Part of engineering is adapting as required. Most land can be built upon if designed too correctly. Obviously some is easier than others. Adequate drainage is fairly easy to build especially when near the sea. Because engineering is about overcoming challenges not crying at the first sight of a difficulty like an arts student.

I don't mind us building on green belt land, some of which is outdated.

Money is from loans which can be paid off by selling housing built.

It is not for my sake but for the next 3 generations who have been left in the **** by generations above incompetence and failure to get done what is required.

 

The consequences are less than those if we don't. You can never have things perfect just pick the best option

But you said earlier that you would be giving these houses away cheaply or restricting the rent payments on them? So you want everyone to have fair wages and access to health care etc which will push the cost of building the houses up, plus all the added costs of health and safety brought in by EU legislation.. You're sums don't add up! (not for the first time)

 

How about we just take another option and decide to control our own borders so we can manage and control the numbers that come to settle in this country sensibly, that would include letting genuine hard working people in who will contribute to our society from all over the world..

 

Just out of interest what career do you think I'm in?

1. Not everywhere is close to the sea.
2. Flood plains are not because or buildings on them, it's called a domino effect.
3. Loans incur interest, it would take ****ing ages to build new towns so the interest alone would cripple the debt.
4. Come back when you've qualified and looking for a job. Because so far these past few months, there has been a big rise in European especially Germany designed contracts. I cover the south from Birmingham down, from Cardigan to Great Yarmouth, so a big enough area to get an understanding.

Now here's something for you to chew on, I'm one of the in voters (now swaying) but you've come across in this debate as just argumentative , someone who thinks he knows everything. Granted you've had ideas but never once have you come up with a possible sensible solution.

 

Most of thats the farm land yet you want us to have more farmers but without the land how can we do that

Also you talk about drainage tell that to the places that get flooded every year. No system has ever been proven to work if you are happy to live in somewhere where flooding occurs and you can't get insurance for it go ahead.
