Ach I don't mind the Turks but they are MENTAL. As my mate says, you'll never see A Turkish ****ebag.
Well, the Ottomans did kick arse for a good while.

Alright mate I am still on FM11 I'm Rangers just beaten Real Madrid in knockouts of Champions League about to play Barca 1st in league by 14 points all I have done is edit their budget to £20m not got any superstars but tactics are awesome much better game than 10 many thanks pal we should try play a network game sometime
My dad was in the navy. My family had a pretty good life. I spent three years in Singapore aged 3-6. And that was early 60s. It was magical for a kid. My dad obviously saw a lot more: Hong Kong, Malta, Gibralta, Aden, etc etc etc.
Having a naval base was brilliant in my teens. I was in swimming and judo clubs and the cinema had a bigger range of movies than the local. My sister learned to ride horses on the base and still does.
My dad was on nuclear subs so was on the front line of the Cold War in the 70s but we were more concerned when he got called up on stand-by for the Falklands. It can happen.
I once got to go around the top of Scotland from Faslane to Rosyth in my dad's sub. It was empty of missiles and stayed on the surface but I got to pull the nuclear trigger. The extended seasickness - it's rough up there - was worth it to stand on the conning tower going under the Forth bridges.
He's 73 now and just had another reunion. He talks every week to one old mate who's also a Red and my folks' Christmas card list is humungous.
My mum's brother joined the navy because of my dad.
Mum's other brother and my brother-in-law tried to be RAF pilots but failed the medical. It's tough.
So I'd say if you're going to swear allegiance to the defence of Her Majesty, the navy is the best bet. It's the senior service.

I have one at the foot of my bed.

Is it not full of raging shirtlifters though?

Haven't read this whole thread but I imagine that BH (Gary off Corrie) has given his two bob worth. Take one look at this guy and think twice about joining the army. He is a gibbering wreck who cannot think of his time in Ireland without going into a full scale meltdown. An utter wretch of a man. This is what will happen to you if you take the Queens Shilling.
Ciaran.
