The Brighton situation is everything that I dislike about the playoffs, where the team that has been the third most consistent, in the league, could miss out on promotion as a result of misfortune (injuries) and their opponents hitting a bit of form. I didn't watch the game, so can't comment on it, other than to say the loss of 4 players, at various moments in the game, and playing for approximately 30 minutes with 10 men, has effectively undone everything they had worked for, since last summer. I hope they have enough depth in their squad, to be able to put out a decent side, and turn things around for the second leg, and at least give themselves a chance in the final.
May seem unfair if you finish 4th by a margin, but every team at the beginning of the season is happy to have 4 chances to get in the play offs...you can't really moan when it turns out not to suit you.
Ha, poor Brett. I passed him a coffee and we had a little chat about the game. I didn't let my inner raging Saints fan come out, luckily for him.
Plymouth hit the post in the 89th minute. Lucky Pompey. Free header, right in the middle of the goal, 6 yards out - completely fluffed it.
