Who would you have as our next Manager

I don't think Koeman will leave to join Everton (unless given ultimatum by our Board about a new deal).

I do think some of our fans are a little rose coloured with their views. Everton is a big job and an exciting challenge for a manager, possibly for the very reason they've been **** for years. Managers, like footballers have big belief in themselves.

I don't understand why a lot of people take a view that recent seasons progress makes us more exciting a job than Everton just because they've not been progressive in recent years. Sure I can understand we'd think our structure is better and we are run very well with a good plan (as TSS' article showed this week), but professional people may (note "may") be more excited by a tough challenge.

It is not a crime to see this. It is not treason to say this. Pelletron said "anyone can see" Everton is not a better job.... Well I can see that it would be a very appealing challenge. I'm not saying he'll leave (before people quote Ron today saying he's not going) but I am saying that it is blinkered to not see that the Everton job could be very exciting for a manager. I'm just seeing both sides of the coin.

I just mean from Ron's point of view (not that I know it, but trying to put myself in his shoes), it would seem like a strange jump. Everton in the next few years will not be going any higher than Saints have been in the last two season's league positions. That is plain as day in my eyes. That would be a good finish for them, but they're not getting top four. I think Ron could hope for higher than that. Then again, it gives Ron a chance to show he can do it at another club, which would make him less of a risk for a bigger club concerned he might be a one-off suited to our club.

I still see Everton as a big club undisputedly much bigger than us - as I was brought up in the 1980s, but I can't see them in actuality claiming back any of that cache again, even with the new owner. On another note, I hope Everton have a bit more imagination than looking for a team as high up the league ladder as they can from whom to poach a manager. If teams are looking to emulate what we're doing at all, they should look at the template (preparation, hard research, savvy recruitment) we use rather than the personnel.

Phew... for a minute there I thought it was going to be the second time in a week that the unmentionable was mentioned :emoticon-0141-whew:

Once people read between the lines and see that VVD,FF,JWP have signed new long deals they might realise that Ron is highly likely to stay and will then they will punt their money eleswhere.

Why don't we start off the slide the wrong way in Ron to Everton, by backing him to sign a new deal here?

Doesn't take very much money to move a manager market. Bookies cut the odds if they only have a few tenners on in my experience.
Not even that a bet of over £20 reduces odds. Bookies hate to be stung.

He's had two good seasons with Southampton . How much further can he take us ? i can see him leaving this summer, i just didn't think it would be to Everton .

You could say that about any manager. What you are actually saying is you don't think Southampton can progress any further. And why phrase it like it's a done thing.? Newspaper talk. There's a pre-match press conference today. I expect Ron to be there announcing his news as usual.
