It's not as daft as some might think. If he doesn't go to Utd and wants to stay with a prem team he has few options and Everton under new owners with a bit of investment, plus money from the sale of Stones or Barkley, or both, might appeal to him.

Me too @60/1 a few weeks back.

Reason: because I knew for a fact that his agent - Mendes, had been in contact with Everton and there'd been ongoing discussions.
He wants the United job, but if it's not available or offered then his options in this country are what?

I still think he'll go to United, but those saying that Mourinho would be 'impossible' for Everton, are plain wrong.
