It's on this weekend, personally I can't stand it, but each to their own.

I wasn't aware of this before, but it seems the first ever Eurovision was in 1957 and Britain's entry was Patrica Bredin from Hull...

This popped up on my FB feed yesterday. Makes me feel more accepting of the event despite it's exclusivity.

I bloody love it, think it's the funniest night on tv all year.

Maybe that because I work in PR.

Ghastly song. It's as if Elvis hadn't already happened.

Do you know Australia is in Europe <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>
Well, we had an entry last year which did pretty well.
They've invited us again this year and we have a very nice lady by the name of Dami Im who will perform a song called "Sound of Silence".
Doesn't do a bad job either - have a watch:

    She's about 3rd favourite I think.

We let Australia in and they send a Korean? :emoticon-0112-wonde

She'll probably do well, it's typical Eurovision type drivel and there's no political reason not to vote for Australia.

Current betting has Russia favourites, then Ukraine, France, Sweden, Armenia and Australia.

We'll come somewhere near the bottom, as we always do nowadays, as the competition has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the performance.

Having Australia in the competition is basically Europe pitying Australia for being in the back of beyond.

Cant see Russia winning, last year every time their name got mentioned there was booing. They're deeply unpopular politically, except in Ukraine and Belarus.

Outmoded, should have been ditched years ago, it was OK for the less sophisticated tastes of 50 years ago when Sandie Shaw won it. Having said that what a pile of sh--- people watch today with the never ending procession of soaps, talent? contests and reality programmes. TV out, (apart from football).

It is very popular Julian owing to us being a multicultural nation. There are people here from every Country represented at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Although her chances are slim the question was put regarding what would happen if she did. Although not official the general consensus was that Australia would pick a European Nation and joint host the event next year.

It's not to betaken seriously "Tigers" - Terry Wogan made sure of that. I have seen some incredible acts over the years and although in my 70's I loved that Finnish Group "Lordi" when they won. If you don't like it then don't watch.

Its an Entertainment programme and taking it seriously would be silly.
Its also the worlds most watched TV event beyond sport.

I bet the 'Leave' campaign were hoping it would be broadcast the week-end before the referendum.

It sums up the EU perfectly. Petty politics, tactical voting, self-interest and a waste of money.

I'll probably watch it, even though it seems to have been hijacked by the LGBT community in recent years. It wasn't always like that.
I remember audiences of men in black ties and the ladies in gowns, clapping politely at the end of each song.

    Gerring' owld you see...
