A lot of the noisier fans sound really loud in the NE corner - those same fans will sound FAR louder in upper West, on the odd occasion when the present seat occupiers got behind the team the noise was really quite significant. Three or four thousand ''Wendies'' will deafen the whole ground ...

Im sure 4,500 Leeds fans STOOD up in the upper West would go down well with the Rossers

It is entirely possible. However the SAG were against it as it was so high and steep (have these clowns ever seen the height and steepness of grounds all over Europe) and with away fans standing this could cause a surge forwards and end with people tumbling over into the people below. Any examples of this happening elsewhere?
Of course the stewards could insist on people sitting like they have done with young kids standing on the back row and not obstructing anyone but we know that our stewards don't have the bottle to confront away fans.
Whether giving away fans a position where they can make a din and which will be even more noticeable on TV is a good idea is another matter.

I know it's possible. Others offered a host of reasons why they reckoned it wasn't.

My comment wasn't aimed at you, I was just clarifying what Castro had referred to, as I thought that's what you were talking about.

That's all another queer decision behind the new scheme.

Up until the £30 thing, I could see an argument for putting them up there,as they could then be charged upper west prices. As it is, they'd get the arguably best seats at a bargain price when they could get more income selling them to our own.

The argument about closing it to save costs falls apart if away fans are being slotted up there.

I actually don't think moving them up there is a totally bad thing. I argued it as an option instead of the E1-E3, but only after proper talks. I argue that splitting the home fans was a mistake, assuming it was done for atmosphere, and it reduces the home seats lost to segregation.

The club argues at the time that they couldn't put away fans near the chairman and executive boxes, which they reckon would happen if they met the allocation needed as they say that away fans can't be split in two areas.

Like so many decisions, the justification for one part seems to conflict with other bits of it.

Will be interesting to see what happens. We have to give 10% or 2,000 tickets whichever is the lower, for league games in Championship, 10 or 3,000 in PL and 15% in FA Cup, subject to SAG and police approval.
If West Upper is used can they separate sufficient toilets and catering? How many seats would be lost to segregation as their appears to be problems using just one aisle as segregation at the KC which they don't have at other stadiums. Would the club be so stupid as to offer the whole 5,000 seats to away fans if they felt they could fill it?
However, to see how the SAG can affect these things, read the link. What should be 9,000 becomes 5,000 and one of the reasons given was the danger of away fans standing in the upper tier. (Presumably home fans standing there aren't a proble. Neither is the home fans being sat above the away fans, which of course contradicts any concerns about away fans being seated above home ones).

Point 1) On my 'Earn your stripes' ****, E1,E2,E3 and N7,N6 (currently designated for away fans) are greyed in - same as U6,U7,U8,U9,U10,U11 - surely both these areas can't be for away fans? It has to be one or the other
Point 2) Not convinced they will make more noise in Upper West, although it will be deafening on telly and radio.
Point3) Only been in Upper West once, that was enough for me. Didn't like the remoteness and detached view.

What a shame Ehaw only gets his pen out to defend the indefensible, rather than drum up support, talk up the club and share his enthusiasm as previous excellent chairmen have done.

That's doesn't surprise me.a lot were doing it.but so what.hes claimed to reduce ticket prices.who pays for the kids.the adults.so are they really better off .no.
