i see no problem with someone continuing a long standing lifetime membership of their club, while campaigning to say that it's unfair for others. Would you say no middle class or rich people should ever join Labour? People with private healthcare shouldn't campaign for the NHS?
That analogy doesnt work at all. People with private healthcare arent choosing to pay a doctor who they supposedly vociferously fundamentally disagree with the way he runs his healthcare business. If they didnt like the way he ran his healthcare business, they'd stop paying him.
Perhaps some form of organised action by corporates or businessmen would be one of the more effective ways to make him take notice? He wheeled them out to support his name change, so they do seem to matter to him.
I will be joining the scheme and taking my seat I've stood in since we were evicted. For me Hull City is not owned by the Allams, its owned by all City supporters, past, present and future. There are a number of reasons why I'll be staying: 1. There should be opposition and protests in the ground next season. The scheme is a disgrace and should be changed. 2. If we get promoted there may be another ballot on our name. I want a vote. 3. I haven't willingly, paid a penny extra to the Allams since we were evicted. That meant no away matches, no cup matches and will mean no play-off matches or Wembley. It also means no programme, no food, no drink and nothing from the club shop. That will continue until they have gone. 4. There is no organised campaign to boycott, no leaflets, no badges, nothing. Organising a boycott takes systematic work. Over the coming weeks there will be a rush to get the cheap seats in the corners and the South Stand. How are you going to stop that? How many are willing to stand outside the KC before a match and argue for a boycott. 5. The membership scheme allows us to call a boycott at any time, we just cancel our direct debits. But, as with point 4, that takes organisation. Persuading thousands of people to boycott the scheme takes hard work and lots of it. 6. If you go to an away match do you automatically become a member? I don't know, but I don't see why not. Same if you buy a home ticket. The Allams get paid for selling away tickets. 7. "You'll be supporting the Allams?" You could say but if we get promoted, which is a distinct possibility, then they won't care about how many seats are empty. Hoping City get promoted, using the same logic mean hoping the Allams get tens of millions from the TV money. It isn't a logic I accept. Finally, for me the more City fans that walk away the more the club belongs to the Allams. I fully understand why they are walking away but I won't be joining them.
I can understanding the dilemma of a corporate membership, it usually is business related and represents a broader church than Hull City support. This unnecessary membership nonsense has thrown a few things into kilter and I think a broader tolerance of other's actions is required. I know I was not going to be represented by the HCST anymore, I was going to let my membership drop due to some concerns in how they approach matters; especially public communication to the club, as was published on here. My personal dilemma is that I believe the Trust is the best body to focus on the club's actions and to organise a real and effective response; I believe that the more numbers within their ranks the better off they are in defending the rights of their fellow supporters. I have, for future reference, this morning taken up a 3 year membership and will see how it goes, they have my support and best wishes. Good luck to them.
Personally, I think you're falling into his trap. You talk about ballots and being there to actively protest but he simply doesnt care about them. You can wave as many red cards or sing songs as you want, he's not bothered. Similarly, you can try and vote as many times as you want, he'll still fabricate the result as we've already seen. There's only one thing he cares about and there's only one way to show him you're dissatisfied.
Thank you Obi, I have mulled over my own situation and you have given me something to think about, which is a refreshing change from the black and white of join or not join. Away support, will require membership, as will match by match as I read it. I am not even sure if there will be a print at home option. I personally do not support protest in the ground, I never have, I just want to watch Hull City and even though I will have a chat with people about the politics of support, I actually always regret that I am not talking about the game. I do enough politics before and after and I really don't want it during. I want to see Hull City win games and will always watch with that desire.
Right, so I shouldn't have bought tickets for Brentford and Rotherham? I should just stop going altogether? How will my voice be heard then? If you make it purely a financial argument, I should actually become a member. Because I would end up paying a lot less to the club than I would if I continue to buy tickets on a match by match basis. But I won't because a price cut at the expense of the young and old is Wrong
He doesnt care about your voice. People have been singing songs and having protests for 3 years and it's achieved a grand total of **** all.
The protests self evidently haven't achieved **** all, we're still called Hull City. It's also not true that the protests don't bother the owner, he's very upset by them. He seeks adoration and genuinely does't understand why he doesn't get it from an increasing large percentage of City fans. He thinks he knows better than everyone else and people should just do what he says, he's not used to people not doing what they're told. The reality is. that people are signing up to the new scheme, there was never any realistic prospect of a complete boycott. Too many people are better off and are therefore happy too sign up for it, less than had a season pass this season (unless we're promoted), but still plenty of people. There's still a chance that the drop will be big enough to force them to reconsider their position and increasing protests will make that more likely, but it's still a long shot, their track record on applying common sense and doing the right thing is appalling.
The Premier League would be all over him like a rash. The last thing they want for brand PL is for a stadium to be shown all over the world as being completely empty save for away fans. How much attention did the Liverpool tickets price protest get when fans walked out and what was the end result of that? And Roma and Lazio recently played out the derby with both ends of the stadium completely empty - nobody in at all - resulting in the lowest ever derby attendance and this way shown all over the world. Their protest? Not about membership or a name change but ****ing bariers being put in the curvas. As a result, the major of Rome is now intervening.
what if you don't have a bank account ?.i was talking to someone on tuesday he has been going to city since the 50s he said he has never had any direct debit in his life.he is not going after this season because of the name change and the membership he had tears in his eyes while we were talking. i have only been going to city for 5/6 seasons and i just could not walk away now, its like a drug to me i've got to go.the price of my seat and my mates have gone down but its wrong for oap and kids and people who have to move seats.it will never stop while allam is our owner after this membership crap it will be something else.
Judging by your comments about people renewing "cos its cheaper" it could easily apply to both if you ask me.
Their walk out was about the price of home tickets in the new stand. I meant it was a success, brand PL doesnt want empty seats shown all around the world. Why are you slapping your head?
