Saw this and thought I would share http://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/koeman-worried-over-communication-breakdown-xphlnt88q
Any idea what the ticket situation is? I'm trying to line up my calender. Answered my own question. I have put in a day pass request...
Interesting article here about the way Saints play, our past attacking signings, some suggested targets and the future generally. http://statsbomb.com/2016/04/can-southampton-become-a-force-in-the-premier-league/
Contradicts himself once or twice, and outright wrong to say that that pace is needed in attack, when you have Long, Mane and the not-slow Tadic. Add JayRod and Saints might be considered spoiled for pace. But an interesting article nonetheless, and I certainly agree on a few points made, for example, Koeman's love affair with hard working players. However, Koeman has to because we don't have any properly great players. And it's not about any side virtues, like pace, in the end. It's about effectiveness. What Saints lack is the regular ability to unlock a defence without the opposition helping them. That's all. That's no small thing, I know. Average teams need the opposition to do it a lot to win. Good teams need it once or twice a game to win. Great teams can carve their own chance, by sheer brilliance, once, maybe twice, without an error from the opposition. And the very best simply do it more times than anyone else. Saints have to break through the good barrier and for that we need a proper playmaker like say.., Payet. He's really the only additional element why WHU sit a few points above us. He's that good that the opposition can leave him with no options, and he'll invent his own. I suppose what I'm saying is, we need a modern day LeTissier. Only one that eats right, trains right, and consequently can work hard alongside performing the magic.
Was going to post that too. Good article. Slightly off the pulse only with the slight of Shane Long as just hardworking.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 Ron criticising players wearing headphones instead of talking to their team mates....says it affects communication. This has also been pointed out by teachers....modern youngsters are falling behind in face-to-face communication skills and their ability to debate. I have noticed before that our players wear headphones less than other teams. I think it looks dreadful when players at some clubs come off the team bus tuned into their headsets with completely blank (sometimes quite miserable) faces and have no interaction with fans or officials. Quite frankly looks like they are so superior that they don't even want to be there. Ron is right on this one....a few hours talking to real people is hardly torture.
We make our kids come down stairs after an hour of headphoning, so they can talk to us over dinner and things.... I think they really love us
http://www.shoot.co.uk/southampton-need-european-football-to-continue-to-test-themselves/ A Shoot article suggesting that Saints need European football...if only to attract new players. It is based on a Saints fan suggesting they wanted Leicester to win against Saints. I know the perceived wisdom is that the Europa League just gets in the way of PL football etc etc, but that's only sour grapes...it will be great if we can qualify again....the fans were happy to imagine the European Tour and how exciting it must be for the players. So my view is that I want us to win every game and give us a chance to qualify for the Europa....and only if we don't, will I decide it would have been a nuisance and interrupt our season
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/14420951.Koeman_on_Barcelona_job/?ref=rss Koeman asked again about Barcelona and says it feels like home and he would like to manage there if the chance came up. Can't we fit him with an E-collar so he gets a shock every time Barcelona is mentioned...sort of aversion therapy.
There is no doubt that qualifying or entering the qualifying stages of the Europa is good. Anyone saying otherwise wants things on a plate. It is the natural progression, seeing as we look like being pipped for the league title
