Would you believe it, 4 days since we started to move to," not 606", and I suppose the main advantage to me is that it's ours. It feels like our board, it looks like our board and we treat it like our board.

On other forums I have felt like a visitor, 606 was a little different in that I enjoyed it and felt a part of it, the things that spoilt it for me was the heavy handed moderation, the opening times and that bloody 3 minute rule. Very hard to have a discussion with that rule and it was all cut and paste.

Our other popular board is the Sunderland Message Board, no real moderation or rules and open 24/7. The problem for me on there is the seemingly never ending number of posters whose idea of debate is abuse.

We will no doubt have the odd hic up along the way and without doubt we will lose posters who will feel this is not for them, I sincerely hope it's not a lot.

The very pleasing thing to me is the return of some veteran posters from days gone by, legends of 606 who for various reasons left or certainly cut down there involvement on the old forum. Its only when you see them back you realise how much they have been missed.

Things are very good right now for us Sunderland fans, I know we are not in the Man U, Arsenal, and Chelsea or if I'm honest Liverpool status right now. Many fans of other clubs can knock, or try to knock but we, Sunderland fans, know the past, the 15 point season, the drop to the old third division, the promotion, relegation, promotion, relegation cycle. We remember the promise of the Reid days and far too many false dawns and promises maybe not broken but certainly not achieved.

Our hope now is because this time it really feels different and the league tables tell us they are different. I know it still could all go wrong, but, like our new home seems like a breath of fresh air and hope, our team of Short, Quinn and Bruce, seem the real deal.

Agree entirely Syd. This forum is a much more grown-up format and if you don't want swearing you can filter it out. The abuse from wums will always be a feature of any board, just as human beings always find a way to balls up something good, but there you go.

Shame about the old 606, but I suppose nothing lasts forever...

Hi all first post on the site and totally agree with syd. Was introduced to Sunderland when Roker park was just a garden and Charley Hurley cut the flowers from behind just below the knees. The ups and downs have been trying but the future looks brilliant and a fantastic time to support the team. Just been on youtube and looked at Sess and Mun, if they live up to what I have seen then the sky is the limit. I have never been so proud as I am at this point in time. Back in 73, as a student, I decorated the bus which brought the gladiators home from wembly and the town was alive that night. I look forward to more of the same in the future.

First of all, why the hell do I keep getting logged out if I don't post for five minutes...

Secondly...Syd..As I've stated, Im not too sure about the format of this site, but it is the likes of you and other great posters from 606 that draw me here. In the sosiology module I studied a couple of years ago I studied the merits of cyber-communities, and I must confess to being sceptical about its merits. However, conversing with some of the lads and lasses over the last few years has changed my views to some extent.
Saying that, I really think we should try and arrange some kind of get together some time as a farewell to 606 gathering...You can't beat the real thing.

Thank you MrRAW for those kind words. You know I'm prone to a ramble and was not sure if my style of writing would fit this format but I then thought, what the hell. I think you will find the format and style of the forum will change in line with how we use it, a little SMB now but I see that changing. We will always have the quick discussion style because a football forum is for discussing current issues about our team. Hopefully we will also find a place for the likes of me and cest who tend to write longer articles for debate and often more thoughts on Sunderland than jsust one issue.

If I'm wrong you will find short shelf life for my posts, wont stop me posting them mind.
