Would you believe it, 4 days since we started to move to," not 606", and I suppose the main advantage to me is that it's ours. It feels like our board, it looks like our board and we treat it like our board.
On other forums I have felt like a visitor, 606 was a little different in that I enjoyed it and felt a part of it, the things that spoilt it for me was the heavy handed moderation, the opening times and that bloody 3 minute rule. Very hard to have a discussion with that rule and it was all cut and paste.
Our other popular board is the Sunderland Message Board, no real moderation or rules and open 24/7. The problem for me on there is the seemingly never ending number of posters whose idea of debate is abuse.
We will no doubt have the odd hic up along the way and without doubt we will lose posters who will feel this is not for them, I sincerely hope it's not a lot.
The very pleasing thing to me is the return of some veteran posters from days gone by, legends of 606 who for various reasons left or certainly cut down there involvement on the old forum. Its only when you see them back you realise how much they have been missed.
Things are very good right now for us Sunderland fans, I know we are not in the Man U, Arsenal, and Chelsea or if I'm honest Liverpool status right now. Many fans of other clubs can knock, or try to knock but we, Sunderland fans, know the past, the 15 point season, the drop to the old third division, the promotion, relegation, promotion, relegation cycle. We remember the promise of the Reid days and far too many false dawns and promises maybe not broken but certainly not achieved.
Our hope now is because this time it really feels different and the league tables tell us they are different. I know it still could all go wrong, but, like our new home seems like a breath of fresh air and hope, our team of Short, Quinn and Bruce, seem the real deal.
