Is it going to take another tragedy for the sick chants to finally end?

I went through a stage where I genuinely believed I "hated" Man Utd (and Germany) fans.

It's ridiculous really and I fortunately grew out of it. It's why I don't like he word hate and very rarely use it nowadays.

Life's too short, it's only a game of football FFS

Those who hate you will never win unless you begin to hate them, and thereby destroy yourself.

Nixon's only ever great speech... and it was when he resigned.

When an a club and or organisation(Uefa)make a mistake or are guilty of something controversial it would be expected that their employees show a lack of bias and speak up despite the comebacks.

Alex Ferguson(a Uefa coaching ambassador) and David Gill(a Uefa Chief Exec)and both on the board of directors at MUFC were both present at Thursday's game and sitting basically on the halfway line in the directors box, both heard what was sang/chanted and both had the perfect opportunity to show non bias and inform their Uefa observation team that Utd fans sang/chanted about a subject Mr Justice Goldring said would be in contempt of court whilst the inquests into the 96 deaths were still ongoing.

Sad that the cross-club rivalry means a code of silence from the two has developed, hopefully Fergie will make a statement condemning followers of Utd for their part in the disgrace in the coming days.

Both clubs should hold a joint news conference condemning the ****e spouted by the mindless morons and work together with the police to identify and ban for life the perpetrators of hate and instigators of violence.

@Page_Moss_Kopite you've spent 3 paragraphs using the situation to have a pop at Fergie and Gill and making some tenuous bullshit link of them to Hillsborough. No mention of anyone from LFC coming out and condemning anyone despite the fact MUFC as a club have already done just that. Then you round it off with a "we should all get together" nice caviat at the end? Unreal.

Not getting into tit for tat or who started first but I didn't read Pages comment like that. (LFC have released a similar statement BTW). It's also why it continued as it's mistakenly included in the "rivarly".. It's not: anymore than racism is part of rivalry.

The line Astro is following is pointless...who cares who started it first?/who cares if 100 sing from one side or a thousand sing on the other? If it's audible and the club does nothing to remove people or ban people then they take the penalty and rightly so. Sick of us whinging about it while both clubs officials do nothing. Statements are worthless... Action is needed.

That's what I meant by that G. If the clubs are seen to be dealing with it themselves in a draconian way then fines won't hsppen because individuals will be held responsible. Also if they are removed in game you'll quickly find out if they are "real fans" or plants.

As I said. Our club shouldn't wait for equivalent action by United. We deal with our own because it's the right thing to do.

Way to miss the point mate. Fergie and Gill are part of UEFA. Liverpool don't have anyone that is part of UEFA.

These two...there are clearer pictures than this of both. They should be banned from life. The United guy thought it was OK to throw punches because the idiot with the fur hood unfurled a banner. The Idiot then threw punches as well. Look at the age of them they are not kids.

And look at the police and Stewards... Right there. Remove them with the police. Identify them. Ban them and press any charges available.

That Steward standing there by the way...stood laughing as seats got ripped out and thrown...what was funny?

Nah, Fergie is an employee of Uefa(as is Gill)and both are paid directors of MUFC, I'm sorry if it offends you that it would be expected that one or both should have spoken up considering they were both at Anfield for the 1st leg when the referee(for what ever reason)saved Utd from a punishment from Uefa by turning a deaf ear or poor understanding of English.

So I take it you think there shouldn't be a joint effort by both clubs and the police to finally put an end to the sick songs/chants, it seems you were more interested in protecting Fergie's honour than focusing on the part that is about the above.
As both Fergie and Gill are part of Uefa it would have been a great gesture to unite the clubs and a kick in the plums to those that think they're entitled to perpetrate hate and possibly break the law on inciting violence.

Are the stewards police officers? I thought they were trained security?

I have never said it's one sided but don't see the need to pretend either that it's two equally bad groups.

There has clearly been a far greater number of Man Utd fans keeping this going than Liverpool fans. That is reality.

Add in the fact that authorities repeatedly refuse to punish Man Utd but jump on the first opportunity to punish Liverpool and the disparity becomes even greater.

YOU are part of the problem with the false equivalence. Thousands of Man Utd fans chanting for best part of 180 minutes, and starting it first, is just the same as a dozen or so Liverpool fans chanting for a few minutes.

Of course all should be punished but implying one is just as bad as another means you might as well as have 100% of the ground chanting as 1% which clearly doesn't help improve things.

<applause>

Liverpool should identify and hammer any Liverpool fans involved in chanting and violence, regardless of the pro-United line taken by UEFA/FA/Man U. I don't expect Uniturd to take the same stance, simply on the basis that Utd would have empty stadiums if they equally sanctioned their fans, especially as they do it regardless of whether the two teams are actually playing each other. It's far easier for them to issue meaningless, hollow statements 'condemning' the behaviour than to actually do anything.

Needs to be action, and we need to do it. The numbers are in our favour, even if the media and authorities aren't.

Ahhh so you're all about the point scoring. Gotcha <ok>

Listen mate lets not piss around, the fact they're part of UEFA is just an opportunity taken to have a pop at them. That's what I find so disingenuous about 3 or 4 posters on here. They don't really want to take ownership, not really. They still look for ways to blame the other guy.

It's the 'we're more hard done by' mentality that continuously rears its ugly head with some Pool fans. That's what this is all about for some. Then the paranoia kicks in where media, UEFA, the world is all against them <doh> All entertained conveniently within the confines of Merseyside or the Liverpool board where you have bitters like Donga and Astro to feed off, but not in the real world.

So you think UEFA behaved correctly in charging Liverpool with illicit chants but not Man Utd?

That is point scoring.

No. ATM, you're the only one trying to score points.

If Liverpool had a UEFA representative he'd have probably named them too. His point was about UEFA and the referee claiming they didn't hear anything and those UEFA representatives acting as a informant (as far as we know, they haven't)

IMO, being a UEFA representative or not, people associated to both clubs should be speaking. Are they resisting because Hillsborough is involved and the current court ruling associated to that disaster?

No I think Page is just being an opportunist tbh.

But I agree with the rest of your post. Personally I couldnt give a fck if every single United fan involved was banned for life. I wouldnt give a fck. And neither would the club as they'll fill their seats and dont rely on revenue from match going fans anyway.

I still find the whole thing surreal though. I cant believe it's as bad as it was tbh. I've been to European games at OT where Italians have kicked off but the United fans have behaved/controlled themselves. United Liverpool play each other season in season out so this makes little sense.

I'd like to think it wouldnt take much by both clubs to make sure it doesnt happen again.

This is an interesting point. The remit of the inquiry includes any part Liverpool fans had to play in the disaster.

Technically the United fans are in contempt with the "s*n is right ****e".

Is the club legally responsible if they allow it or do not deal with it?

Is it also why UEFA hasn't made it official by charging them? Not a conspiracy regarding United more UEFA covering their ass as usual?

Fck off Gerrez. Am I the one pointing a finger at individuals at Liverpool? No. If you have a grievance against UEFA for the way they've dealt with it, fair enough. I'm with you <ok>

The minute you start using that as a way to single out Fergie and Gill and have a pop at them using words like 'bias', you're on your own. THAT is point scoring.

Maybe you should listen to your own words!

The fact Fergie and Gill are associated to Man Utd is irrelevant. They are both UEFA representatives and they would both have heard both sets of fans chanting. Why not speak up and let UEFA know exactly what was happening?

You are letting club alliance get in the way mate, no one else. I'd be saying exactly the same if it were Kenny or any other Liverpool associate.

No one is finger pointing either. It's simply questioning UEFA's "didn't see our hear anything" stance when they had six representatives (four match officials, Fergie and Gill) present!

If you truly believe it's finger pointing then you are a fool!

A board member of Manchester United F.C., The Football Association, and the FIFA Executive Committee was at the game and had **** all to say about the blatant chanting in any of his three roles.
