Is it going to take another tragedy for the sick chants to finally end?

  3. We know it's a small minority in both camps mate. The two clubs need to work together to get rid of the mindless twats!

Utterly staggering, and if we complain we're 'Always the victims; and 'It;s never our fault'. It's beyond ****ing parody.

Just like to say that what those lads did in sneaking into the Uniturd section with a banner may have seemed a wizard wheeze, on the lines of Manure fans unfurling banners at Anfield when they get their nineteenth title, when they planned it. But we knew what the stakes were, we knew we'd be punished ten times more severely than Uniturd if we misbehaved (though that would be 10 x 0, I suppose) and we knew that they would everything they could to goad us, especially as the tie ran away from them. For fans below them to then start singing about Munich...

If they can be identified, especially the ones who did the chanting, they should be banned by Liverpool for life. We have to take a stand where others, including Gill at UTDUEFA, did not. We must, however, not cease to protest, whatever the Utd-controlled media ensuing faux outrage, at the staggering inconsistency of UEFA.

It does beg the question though as to why our clubs haven't taken measures to rid the stands of the people who sing these chants. Someone else on here has mentioned that it needs to start with the fans, which I agree with to an extent.
However, the clubs need to take a larger responsibility and use the CCTV that is already avaialble to them and identify these people.

Maybe issue one warning and then dish out bans if they offend again.

It's the only way I can see of us removing these idiots.

Also have to mention the fact that it only seems to be your lot that are getting investigated by UEFA for illicit chanting. That's a bizarre outcome and I've no idea how my club has dodged the behaviour of some fans during the first leg. I can appreciate your annoyance at this!!!

    Typical UEFA I guess. Useless.

All the evidence is already there, in high definition

There is just no motivation to even apply the laws that already exist

One of our players Jordan Williams apparently tweeted the figure of an aeroplane and clapping to mock the Munich victims and goad the mancs.

How moronic is this? No wonder the media has a field day when we have such pathetic players? Is it worth risking the reputation of this club for a few moments of wumming? It is time for the club to take a strong stance on this. Moronic players and fans must be punished for such behaviour to set an example. As long as the club refuses to comment, we seem to condone this.

We need to put our house in order then we can complain about them.

And we have some of our fans going into a united section to start fighting. This could have been extremely ugly and there could have been injuries. Just hope here also the club bans these idiots for life.

    Player should be released.

The two clubs have an opportunity to make a stand. There is clear photographic evidence of a fan from each side trading punches. They should both be banned from both grounds for life.

Same goes for anyone proven to be singing...

According to Brian reade in the Mirror the other day, any proven chants about Hillsborough (including us too, atm) are contempt of court whilst the inquests are still ongoing in Warrington.

Your desire to perpetuate the notion that it's a one sided problem, is part of the cause.

Despite not being a match goer your one eyed perspective is part of the problem..

It's why the "buts" and what aboutery has to stop.

The club need to just take the punishment UEFA gives them because it was earned by fans wearing our colours...

The fact they aren't charging United with the same clear and obvious misdemeanour is a separate issue that has no bearing on whether our fans partook in chanting, property destruction and fighting.

It's been raised by the press local and national.

As can be seen on this Board most fans agree that those of us responsible deserve to be punished and if our club isn't willing to do it they deserve to be punished instead.

As for United fans...there's nothing we can do ourselves. It's up to their club and their fellow fans to confront their own.

What aboutery just allows those idiots among us room to justify their own disgusting behaviour.

  13. There is a problem with just punishing the club. I wouldn't put it passed either set of fans to dress up as the opposition to get the other club into trouble.

I've not read too much about what happened. If I'm being honest it puts me off that's why I don't. But if (and I use that term lightly as I'm sure there were) United fans involved in any such chanting or violence then they're pure filth and I distance myself from them. I have heard that some Livpl fans got into the United end? Once again, don't know the details other than they got a kicking. I don't condone that (I certainly wouldn't do it) but you have to think they must've been braindead not to expect what happened once they were found out. Complete idiots and I'd say that if it was the other way round. But like I said, regardless of the club or fans, anyone who chants that ****e is pure scum imo. It was like going back 30 years ffs.

The problem runs deeper than chants. These individuals have a deep rooted hatred.

As with racism, people are not born racist - it's a product of the upbringing and environment.

We can ban these fans for these chants but that won't stop them chanting them elsewhere and at other times.

  18. I went through a stage where I genuinely believed I "hated" Man Utd (and Germany) fans.

It's ridiculous really and I fortunately grew out of it. It's why I don't like the word hate and very rarely use it nowadays.

Life's too short, it's only a game of football FFS

I suppose that's the thing - the rivalry between Liverpool anD Man United runs beyond football.

I have never said it's one sided but don't see the need to pretend either that it's two equally bad groups.

There has clearly been a far greater number of Man Utd fans keeping this going than Liverpool fans. That is reality.

Add in the fact that authorities repeatedly refuse to punish Man Utd but jump on the first opportunity to punish Liverpool and the disparity becomes even greater.

YOU are part of the problem with the false equivalence. Thousands of Man Utd fans chanting for best part of 180 minutes, and starting it first, is just the same as a dozen or so Liverpool fans chanting for a few minutes.

Of course all should be punished but implying one is just as bad as another means you might as well as have 100% of the ground chanting as 1% which clearly doesn't help improve things.
