I'm the son of a milkman so was born with a silver top in my mouth. I must admit though that as I got older my mum changed that to stripey top as she said it was healthier. I was happy because I called it Saints Milk.

I don't know if you're serious but my Dad was originally a milkman too!

I think I read somewhere that he is not even attracting anywhere close to 50% of the republican vote and if the other candidates had got behind one guy, then they could have prevented this from getting too far

True in theory. But the reality is, no one can capture 50% of the Republican vote without resorting to Trump tactics. You cannot distance yourself from these loons and win the primary. If Trump weren't in the race, all the other candidates would be falling all over themselves to court that same demographic.

I have just been thinking that if all the politicians who are supporting Brexit were to form a political party would I vote for them to run the country and the answer would be a resounding no. If I can't trust them to run the country should I follow their support for Brexit?

And then I look at the bunch saying stay, shouting the sky will fall in and bubonic plague will stalk the land :emoticon-0100-smile

We (rightly) ridicule the Trump nonsense in the USA but I've seen little grown-up discussion from any politicians or 'captains of industry' on this issue so far. The couple of links provided by posters here have demonstrated further that both sides are mounting an emotional, not fact based, appeal to the public.

That said the out bunch do seem good at attracting a better quality nutter.

I see more cuts to ESA and PIP are coming. Yes I am sure the very poor/disabled can afford to have even less money Osborne....

Andrew Marr asked Osborne why aren't pensions for the rich being cut. Osborne simply ignored him and changed the subject.

Indeed. If you are extremely wealthy you don't need a pension. Gosh, what radical idea - means tested pensions. Don't need it, don't qualify.

Oh come on, Beefy. Rich people need to be given more so that their money can trickle down to the poor in a way yet to be discovered ... See I'm getting the hang of this capitalism stuff.

The other problem is what would the foodbanks do without the poor? Look, we can all feel better about things as we can buy a tin of beans at Tesco and give it to the nice lady from the Trussell Trust and she'll give it to some poor sod who can't work as he's had his motability car taken away from him. If we ensure people can afford to live, what would that nice lady do then? You haven't thought this through, mate. It's bloody great this Big Society idea. Well done to the Etonians who thought it up.

Time for my medication.

Wash your mouth out. Taking money away from the rich? You'll be wanting them to pay taxes next, you Commie git.

I must admit I do seem to be getting a little more left wing these days. I think it's a reaction to having George Osborne in charge of handing out the monies. It reminds me of that scene in Tom Thumb between Peter Sellers and Terry-Thomas where TT divides the dosh.

TT: One for you and One for me
PS: Yeah.
TT: Two for you and One, Two for me.
PS: ?
TT: Three for you and One, Two, Three for me...

Except we're not that thick George. Just apathetic after being screwed every which way over the last few years, and being told we need more of it after such a successful climb out of recession. We'd take it on the chin a little better if everyone went without to a similar degree. That's another obvious radical idea. Where's the toothpaste?

Taxes for the rich? What a novel idea.

Was it last week that Gideon George Osborne was trying to spin that the reduction in the higher rate of income tax, led to more tax being collected, in 2011/12?
What he meant to say was the increase in paid tax was not due to the rate being lowered, but due to his buddies in the banking industry deferring their previous year's bonuses, until the next tax year, in order to take advantage of the new lower rate of tax.
He forgot to add that his buddies paid less tax, the previous year, as a result of the deferment and that overall, the taxman/the people, lost out.
