I agree entirely..... but the trick is making those buying and selling decisions correctly all the time. it puts great reliance on the manager (or just plain luck!). Not sure that there are that many good (or consistently lucky) managers out there. And it seems that some owners/Chief Execs can't stick with them when they find them.
Everything was going well , with managers ,transfers and finances , until Huw placed Monk in charge and stuck his pointy nose into running all things Swansea .
I'm pretty well sure now that Huw put Monk in charge so he could be in charge of Monk .
Another think I don't like , since the Laudrup sacking , is the lack of transparency from the board .
A lot of things have gone wrong of late and everyone is left guessing why .
I wonder if we will ever hear anything about the Vorm fiasco again and if not , I wonder how much it cost to keep it quiet .
But , I'm hoping Jenkins learned from losing his halo and sets out to recover it with giving full reins to Guido or whoever else might be given a chance

Roof! I wasn't talking specifically about Swansea in my most recent comments but what you say is most likely true. But this continuous trading up with players is necessary for survival. The trick is to be successful or at least more successful than failing in this market. Otherwise, equity or loans is the only cover available and Swansea are not in a position to get much in he way of loans.
I guess next season will see the proof of the pudding regarding TV money and transfer fees/wages. The nightmare scenario is it all going to the players. And I suspect clubs will not stick together and try and protect the extra money form being swallowed up in such a manner.

I hear ya frank , I love selling high and buying low . It's a business too , a business that's bringing money into the Swansea community , to the football clubs infrastructure and a general feeling of worth in the football community as others look at the financial success we were reknown for .
Best to sell in the winter and buy in the summer if at all possible ,

This buying cheap and making a profit is slightly misleading and a bit of a red herring. It's ok with one or two players but the majority of the team have to stay for continuity and we need to keep improving them as well to keep progressing our playing standards. It's ok to buy the occasional star player but I would like to see us more active in recruiting lower league and non-league players and spend money to bring them to us as it has been shown there are diamonds there. Some of our academy players are of an age now where they should be challenging for the first team and would like to see them being given a chance. At least four of our regulars are coming to the end of their playing careers and we should be preparing replacements for them now without having to spend big money when they actually finish. I also find it more satisfying to develop our own players whether local or not. I also remember when I first started watching the Swan and Trevor Morris was manager and Phil Holden was chairman we were a selling club and sold our best players which kept us for years struggling in the wilderness which I wouldn't like to see again.

Well Guido wanted Palo and Huw brought him in so hopefully he has/is learning from his monumental **** ups this season. We've been lucky that we have found form at a critical time in the season to keep us in the PL. If Huw hasn't learned, we might not be so lucky again.
£25-£28 million for Bony, £15 million for Joe, £6 million for Scott, £7 million for BR.
I wonder who's idea Fer was , whoever's it was it was a good idea imo( thinking it was Guido )I'm sure he will be bought outright in the summer and fees and such have already been discussed casually
Hopefully because what I saw second half v Arsenal and against Norwich, he was a very shrewd signing by whoever brought him in.
QPR fans feel that he goes missing. Personally, it could be that the way we play football will suit his game.
I certainly liked what I saw from him last Saturday.
For this coming weekend, my one concern is now that Francesco is out of hospital, he will not be as bold as Curt, and we will revert to the defensive style that was on display at White a Hart Lane.
No Sugar..... but what you describe is, in many ways, the same thing. OK.... one does not buy players but developing them through is getting them cheap and making them into something valuable for the team. As for those sales.... you make the point very well but you are also suggesting that this particular well may have dried up after Laudrup, I think!

6 goals in his last 18 games playing for QPR , Fer was the only player not to go missing .
And I imagine Norwich players , manager. and fan's stomachs took a turn for the worse when Fer set up Siggy ......beautifully for the winning goal .
Can't you go down to training tomorrow and throw a bucket of ice cold water over him? Then again, throwing two buckets over him would be better
Regarding home grown players, it was good to see Kingsley have such a good game the other day, looked solid and ashured, with plenty of talent going forward, this hopefully will be the start of many from our new Academy facilities and status............

I also thought Fulton did well when he came on v Arsenal (I think).
Once we get to safety I'd like to see Kenji get a few run outs.

Everyone is assuming what part Curtis and / or Guido have played during Guido's reign , be it on the touch line or the hospital bed and let's face it , we've been very lucky to get 6 points from the last 2 games .We were poor against Norwich , luckily they were poorer .

I get what you say, I just don't see Guidolin making the changes Curtis did on Saturday (I may be wrong). Especially as he took Paloschi off. Curtis for me could see we were going nowhere with the negative way we were set up and introduced a bit of pace and we did improve in the second half and looked more threatening. You are right in that Guidolin may have done the same, I just doubt it. As for him being in here in the summer, I have seen a slight improvement from Monk, what I have also seen is a completely negative attitude in the way he sets us up and approaches a game. This has been ok this year as we had to make ourselves harder to beat. with the predicament we were in, I love his enthusiasm.
I hope he is nowhere near us next season, he is to negative and trying to get a point every game rather than going for a win. It will be a long boring season if he remains. But it is all about opinions and no doubt some will want him and some wont. I think there is better out there for us. I may well be wrong and jinks has already sorted him for next year.
