I fully agree. But look what happened with the Bony money. That realistically went on the training facilities etc and balanced the books. We do not, and will not spend big this summer, despite the huge financial rewards at the end of this season through the new tv deals. I'm afraid that the board will go for the cheap/free signings rather than sign 3 or 4 players of real quality, which is what we need this summer.
4 players , including Fer ...20 million ... 3 players of various value with 13 or 14 million left after Fer . Whoever comes in , this is what he will get to work with . Pretty sure it will be Guido though and he knows targets already . I also hope this Guido's staff stay the way it is come fall , Seems to be a kinmenship between Curtis and Guido .....since they've been in charge ( either by themselves or together ) they have 19 point in 14 games ....over a season that's 51 points .
We've played better and looked more dangerous when Curtis has changed Guidolin's defensive formation. I guess, if he's here next season, he will bring in guys who complement his style of football.
Why do we think the budget will be that low. We will get more money than I can eat from the new TV deal, which will mean that players who cost 10 million now will cost 15-20 Million. It's fairly obvious that prices will go up, along with salaries for players who sign new deals. A 20 million budget won't get us much.
Not if he puts a ball back across our own box, like he did 2nd half, I almost had a heart-attack at the Liberty!! Saying that, it was a better ball than he normally puts in at the other end, lol....
Because that's how Huw and the board operate. I hope I'm wrong and we spend a good £45 million (cash from new to deal and potential Ayew, Gomis,Eder and Tabanou sales) but we'll be lucky if they spend £20 million.
If we spend 8.5 million on two players we never used , surely we can spend 20 million on a few we will use
Can someone clarify whether the £100 million next season is going to be extra on what we currently receive or just a £100 million in total. If it is in total there will not be as much to spend on transfers as people think and looking at it cold bloodily we need to be looking now for replacements for Leon, Rangel, Routledge and even Ash and not wait until they have actually gone. As for getting rid of players the only two mentioned who would bring us a decent return are Ayew and Ki. We may even have to pay up Gomis' contract to get him out of the door. Let's hope the academy is going to provide some possibilities otherwise what's the point of it.
With the new deal, the club in 20th position will get around c£97m whilst the Champions would get around c£146m. In respect of the team in 20th position, their monies would be generated something like as follows: Domestic TV share £38m Final PL position £2m Payment for "Live" matches £10m Overseas Distribution rights £47m Whereas for the Champions, their monies could look something like Domestic TV share £38m Final PL position £40m Payment for "Live" matches £21m Overseas Distribution rights £47m So the final PL standing money increases by £2m per position, eg 20th = £2m; 19th = £4m etc
Thanks for that Taff because that didn't help me understand our financial increases for next season at all
Last season for finishing 8th we earned/received c£81m. Chelsea as Champions received £99m; QPR got £65m for 20th So, under the new deal, winning the title earns c£47m more, whilst the bottom club will receive £32m more.
I'm not sure where all this money will come from. Yes, you guys will get more income next year but last year you would have made a thumping loss except for the profit on transfers. I think this discussions has been had before,....... teams like you need to sell and make profit to be able to keep in the Premiership. Going into debt to buy more players is a big risk. Big benefit if it pays off.... oblivion if it fails. Clubs need a sugar daddy these days to keep investing or a lump of assets to support any loan (along with the risk!). And as someone said earlier, big new TV money simply means bigger transfer fees and wages for the players. Not sure how it will all end. the longer it goes on the more interesting the lower leagues seem and the less interesting any super duper league would be.
So that suggests to me that the increase isn't as great as some people think, especially when you add wages and agents fees into any transfer deal.
The accounts for the last financial year were for 14 months - 2 additional "Summer" months where there was no income, only costs incurred. As such, the Profit for the year was "deliberately" suppressed.
Good point Taff...... two months extra costs with virtually no income. But does it compensate to provide enough money for big investments ? I'm not trying to have a go here..... it is the same problem for most teams.... other than the lucky few. And, frankly, the 'lucky few' are starting to really get on my t*ts. All this money is taking the fun out of the game and making park football all the more attractive. And these big guys also seem to want to lose replays that give these lower league teams a bit more income and a target every now and then. Sorry if I have taken this thread off topic but I feel better for getting that lot off my chest.
The vast majority of the cash earned from the PL is going and has gone to the players. Add in the capital spend at Landore etc and it is not surprising that cash is tight.
But can it continue like that? If it des, it will mean all clubs will become playthings of the rich and there's no safety net when the rich kid loses interest or drops dead. Southampton got away with it when the Lieb Herr guy(I think?) turned up his toes but it was a close thing. Not many can survive that kind of fall. Is Aston Villa now suffering coz Randy Lerner left? Presumably, Bolton are where they are coz the chicken guys left?
It doesn't matter how much increased money we get or increased costs we must endure for that matter , if we spend 9 million on players and pay their wages ( Tabannou , Eder ) And don't even use them , eventually were fuked if we stay that course Both Manchester teams have each payed 400,000,000 to assemble a squad that earn 200,000,000 in wages . Leicester put together a team that cost 50,000,000 that earn 50,000,000 . There is a proper practicality method a team can follow , with the right people making the decisions , that can keep a team in the premier playing overburdened , overpayed , wastefull teams .
