Classic case of glass half empty / full ...before the match several reports were commenting on the good run we've been having under JFH (based on lack of defeats rather than victories)..one more defeat and apparently we are "dire" (based presumably on lack of victories and consistency)...the reality is we are neither dire nor good, simply a transitionary work in progress which is what this season was always going to be about before we got confused by not being able to off load some of our allegedly better players pre season. For what it's worth I think JFH is well on track and we are laying more solid, sustainable and realistic foundations for establishing ourselves at Championship level for the next few years.

I think there's definitely a good player in there but he's risen very quickly to this level and it will take time. It wasn't long ago he was playing for St Ives Town (?).

Playing as a lone striker is hard enough in a good side but Henry & Toszer sitting so painfully deep means Luongo has to drop in and suddenly there's a huge gap between midfield and striker. Last week, Luongo playing deeper rather than Toszer helped allow Chery to play as a proper 'number ten' and the whole team could play higher up the pitch. I prefer Polter but think anyone would have struggled with our powderpuff crosses and long punts.

Just back from trip away and watched high lights only.
They had more to play for leaving us now with two difficult home games.
We need some points from somewhere!

I thought that in the first half we looked like the home side. We had the game under control but lacked energy, urgency, power and pace. But that's something we've lacked for considerable time. MKDonalds couldn't be anywhere near as bad second half could they?

I would imagine the half time team talks would've gone something like this ...

JFH - '' Keep it going lads, we're doing okay, be patient and it will eventually workout for us. ''

Karl Robinson - '' WTF'ing hell do you call that you bunch of useless C***s!!!! If you think we will stay in this league by letting these lightweight Southern softies dominate us at home then you can all F*** Off and start looking for a new club. Get out there and show me, the fans and the owners that you have the bollocks to beat this lot. If you come back in this dressing room after the game having not improved and not left everything on the pitch I will deck each and every ****ing one of you! ''

Out of every negative, I always try to find a positive so, I guess losses like this make the wins just that little bit sweeter.

He seems to have been a slow starter where ever he's been, but once he starts scoring........

As a number of others have said, playing him up front on his own really isn't helping him get off the mark though

Ditto for Newport County - right now he's no Charlie, and was bought for a similar price.

THE Newport County AFC Supporters Trust have revealed that the club has received around £400,000 as part of Conor Washington’s move from Peterborough United to Queens Park Rangers – an amount that could eventually be doubled.

The windfall is as a result of a sell-on fee negotiated by the previous regime when Washington moved to Peterborough from County in January 2014.

On the Washington deal, the Trust says: “We can confirm we have received a significant windfall from the sale of Conor Washington from Peterborough to QPR.

“As expected the agreement has a number of clauses and complexities based on a range of triggers. “Notwithstanding this we have received an initial cash payment in region of £400k, which could almost double over the coming years if the various other clauses are applied.

“We fully recognise the contribution of the previous board in achieving such an excellent deal for the football club.

“The injection of funds from the Conor Washington transfer is excellent news, especially given that apart from regular, relatively low value, long term creditor agreements all money will be available to be re-invested in the football club.

That is how you build a team spirit ...Watford....

Asking a player to play in a fairly meaningless game (when we have another on Tuesday) after he his wife has just had a baby....is not the way to foster a good spirit, not only with Hoillet himself , but with the rest of the team.
That sort of gesture, wins over dressing rooms...the opposite, what you are suggesting creates bad spirit
I am glad you don't manage us

You've got me wrong, Beth. Hasselbaink's man management comes across as being quite good and I doubt any manager nowadays would force a player to play in Hoilett's situation. My gripe is with the player for not chomping at the bit to take six hours or so off to play for a club paying him a couple of million quid a year. I hope Mrs Hoilett is doing fantastically well.

Sorry Watford, Beth is right, no man should put his job above being present for the birth of their child.

With or without Hoilett we fielded a team that should have been capable of scoring a few goals and beating MK Dons.

Agree, but we don't know the circumstances deemed important enough for Hoilett to remain with his wife and baby.

Its just baffling how our performances varies so dramatically, and Hoilett isnt that crucial to the team to be a major factor.
