Todays Watford v Leicester game, featuring two teams only recently in the Championship, played at high tempo with exciting attacking players such as Vardy, Mahrez, Deeney etc, shows how wide the gap is between their managers tactics and Bruce's slow buildup boring play and addiction to a failed policy of falling back to defend slender leads in the last 20 minutes by pulling off our strikers, which has cost us innumerable points in recent years.

If we are fortunate to win promotion we desperately need a change of manager to one who can recognize and sign effective strikers (Andy Gray) and mix exciting attacking football with strong defense, otherwise we face a quick return back to the Championship. If we do not win promotion this year I fear it will be the beginning of a long slide to mediocrity, with our best players leaving, and our finances deteriorating rapidly.

To bury ones head in the sand and claim like City Man and others that all criticism of Bruce is anathema and does not belong on here is just plain ridiculous, and has no place on a board where all opinions should be heard.

There's always different way to see things.

I wouldn't have got rid of Bruce last season.

Is pulling our striker off with 20 mins to go defensive or good man management protecting our best goal scoring threat.

You mention Andy Gray in your criticism of not recognising or signing effective strikers well Bruce did recognise him then I think the signing is up to the club not Bruce but let's not let that get in the way if you can use it against Bruce.

You call the style of play boring but many of the best teams for years have played this style of possession football.

Many recognise we have (possibly) the best team in the Championship but with doing that they recognise us as the team to beat and often raise their game

If you think it was Steve Bruce who made what was purely a financial decision to not sign Andre Gray, we'll I'd suggest you are very wrong.

A lot of these bipolar fans of ours see the condensed highlights of other clubs on telly and think how exciting those teams/managers/games are.

I've seen us in those highlights sometimes and we've looked superb even though the game was relatively uneventful and sparking play a rarity.
If it's goals and thrills you're after, get yourself down to Craven Cottage for a high-scoring home defeat.

If we don't go up then I get a lovely day out in Putney again, another visit to Loftus Road and various other possibilities.

I know a Pompey fan who gets to enjoy seeing his club despite being nowhere near the Prem and after surviving all of the chaos that they have had to endure.

If (as is now looking likely) we cock it up, not only will it be the biggest managerial failure of all time (look at this squad ffs) we'll also sink like a stone next season and probably languish in lower mid table for years, something the thick ****s on here who 'prefer the championship anyway' need to get their heads around.

The squad will be unrecognizable next season if we're still in this god awful division. We'll be left with a rag tag bunch of loanees and free agents and 2-0 home defeats to the likes of Reading and Preston will become standard fare.

Failure to get promoted this season will set this club back years even decades imo.

As Driff said it's now or never.

Looking likely? Blimey that narrow and undeserved defeat at Birmingham has really clinched it for some people.

We've failed to score in 5 of our last 7 games. Now isn't the time for meekly finding positives.
