It's hypothetical btw. We don't get to choose.
You dont get to choose in football though.
We will get what we deserve if we put the effort in.
Better players and, hopefully a better quality of football played by our club. Isn't that what we all want? Plus, probably most importantly, a self sustaining club that doesn't rely on owners who threaten to pull the plug if they don't get their own way. Also money that could come in and improve our youth and training set up, community structure and, possibly our ground. I want Hull City to be the best they can be, having seen us at our lowest and our highest, I know which I prefer and while there's a taste of nostalgia every time we face a Bury or a Southend in the cup, it doesn't put a patch on beating Liverpool or Arsenal in a league game. I'm not fussed about the 'shinyness' of the Premier League, but the satisfaction that comes with winning a game in that league is unparralelled for me, every 3 points feels like a cup win.
Winning anything, from a match to a trophy is an amazing feat and is not to be baulked at, but it's ridiculous to prioritise winning a trophy over getting promoted to a league which could potentially fund us for years to come. Winning the league this year would make it my favourite season yet, more so than the FA Cup final. I also think it would provide us with a nice bit of momentum into next season, it did wonders for Newcastle (and, so far, Bournemouth). Although not Cardiff.
Most of the money would just go straight to the players or owners. We've been slow funding improved facilities, grass roots and scouting I think.
Must admit I have been swayed by the talk of how important promotion is this season due to the massive changes in finances this year.

plus nearly a quarter mill TV money! More for TV coverage than competition payment, says it all really
I know what your saying, but one day id like to tell my grandkids of the day I saw Hull City lift the FA Cup..
the stories of our 15-17th place finishes in the premier league wont be as good.
Yeah, the awesomeness of a 14th placed finish for 'little old Hull' that Steve Bruce trumpets about would pale in comparison to our champion squad that lifted the FA Cup trophy.
I do get that, but I'd rather be telling mine about how we used to struggle and were close to disappearing before we ended up in the top tier and became self sustaining and profitable and able to field a good quality team in all our games whilst staying in the top division.
Rather than, yeah, we struggle now but years ago, we won the FA Cup.
A la Leeds, Bury, Preston, Forest, Derby, Coventry, Pompey and Villa to name a few!
Aston Villa !! Been out of the top tier only 12 times in their nearly 130 year hisory and been champions 8 times. Have been in the top tier for the past 28 seasons and have won the FA Cup 7 times.
What point are you trying to make here?
Under normal circumstances, I'd far rather we had a go in the FA Cup than the league, as we've far more chance of actually achieving something in the cup, than we have in the Premier League.
This season is an exception though, the teams in the Premier League next season will receive so much coin, that everyone else is going to have a hell of a job competing and despite not enjoying the Premier League as much as the Championship, I can't help but want us to not miss out (it's also great for the city as a whole).
