All the best jokes are. This post is bought to you by Revive a Cheap Stereotype for Purposes of Casual Racism!
My friend's ex was like that....always going on about the English....despite living here all his adult life (having left Scotland aged 16). She finally told him to bugger off back there then....he still lives on the Island. Nowt as strange as folk.
Clearly not a true rugby supporter then. Sadly, the game is now attracting these kind of brainless idiots .................
You still get that with the Irish, France and Italy. You do with the Welsh and Scotland in general but there is a minority who seem to have raging hatred regarding the Great heroic world beaters English.Sad isn't it? My uncle used to go an an annual beano to the England vs Ireland game at either Twickenham or Landsdowne road. He was always going on about how English and Irish fans had a drink and a laugh together, and how you'd never get that at football.

Yes you do. Many are the nights I've spent drinking and carousing with French and Irish fans. Sadly, I fear the animosity felt by the welsh and scots seems to be deep and I simply do not understand it. Jealousy because we're the only ones to have won the RWC or is it to do with politics? Just imagine where the scots would be now if they'd voted "yes" last year! Right up the Swanee and begging to be bailed out by their "rich" southern cousins .....
May be referring to the large over estimation of income from the North Sea.And why would that be ?
I was asked by a Welshman if we hated the Welsh. I told him that of course we don't...never give you a thought, mate. I gave a rude answer because he was being rude, but there was a touch of truth. I lived in Wales for 4 years and they were obsessed with the English, but I never heard anyone give an opinion about the Welsh in my previous 18 years in England. I have to admit I came back from Wales with my hackles raised....whereas I had no such thoughts before. Of course, there has always been rivalry in rugby because the home nations play each other all the time....the Welsh always won during my time in Cardiff. They are very good victors.[HASHTAG]#sarcasmmode[/HASHTAG]

I went on a course in Cardiff back in the '90's and part of the evening entertainment was a comic folk singer called Frank Connolly, who despite his name was Cardiff born and bred. He was the antithesis of Max Boyce: very proud of his city, but dismissive of the Welsh jingoism over rugby. The finale of his act was a song about Cardiff called "I Wish the ****ing Welsh Would Go Away".You only had 4 years Fran.(And that was in Cardiff). I've lived here for 33 years ...and at University 3 years before that. If anyone thinks that the English are arrogant they obviously haven't witnessed the immense sense of self importance linked to any measure of Welsh success on the rugby pitch. A couple of Grand Slams hasn't done anything to reduce this. I remember that in the 90s a 1 point win over England was enough for national extended celebrations, followed by incessant repeats at every excuse (40 point humiliations were instantly excised from memory). No one does hubristic gloating celebrations like the Welsh rugby fraternity....Max Boyce made an entire career out of it.
I would ignore it all, but unfortunately my father in law is one of the worst...then again he just hates the English generally I think. Maybe he was annoyed that his grandson, born in Wales, proudly wore his England rugby shirt throughout the 2003 tournament. (I made sure he supports Saints too).![]()
I assumed so, but oil revenue is only a small part of the Scottish economy. And it is part of the UK economy too. So when the oil price is low, income is lower - it`s a cyclical business - give it a couple of years, and it `ll be back up higher.May be referring to the large over estimation of income from the North Sea.
Still have a dirty streak too, that late tackle on Sexton yesterday was disgusting.40-9 looks good on paper but really Italy are in the 3rd division of international rugby. Can someone please stuff the boring French? It is 25 or 30 years since they played anything like decent ruby. One has to go way back to Serge Blanco's time.
