Doumbia is official (subject to medical). Phew!! For me, that's the striker we needed - I couldn't give a chuff about Saido any more, I'm more interested to see if we can get a defender "over the line".
I've just seen Tranquillo Barnetta riding a mountain bike down Osborne Road in Jesmond eating a packet of space raiders... Must be heading to SJP for his medical.
Barnetta can't ride a bike on medical advice, so this is bogus. Rumours abound that WBA have accepted the offer. I'd like to point out my previous post where I reckoned WBA might be waiting til the last minute so Pulis can't spend the money. I'd also like to point out that, should I be wrong, I will no longer refer to that post.
Jordan Rhodes, if he moves, will have knocked up 20m in transfer fees, yet never played or scored a goal in the PL
All these "ITK's" have a right laugh on deadline day. I bet we sign Doumbia and that is job done. To be fair I'd be happy with that.
I cant see the Ashley sanctioning 30 million on any player never mind a guy that hasn't been playing regularly in the premier league this season. Getting Doumbia through the door is important as it slightly takes the pressure off signing striker number 2. As others have said, the club should now be focusing its efforts on signing a defender.
I think its more of a case of timing and the situation we are in. Signing Remy would make a lot of sense as he has been here before, he knows the club, knows most of the squad. He scored a lot of important goals the last time he was here and as well as that when you consider the price we are supposedly shipping out for Berahino signing Remy for half of that fee would seem like good business to me.
You heard it here first... We're going to sign Berahinho for £30 million AND Remy for £30 million. We won't mean to, but Charnley will get the email addresses mixed up just a few minutes before the window closes and sign Remy, while Ashley steps in to sort out Berahino.
i know what your saying pal .. its still a gamble hes older now and never really player m8 .. we see what happens ha ha
Would love to see a left back...and a centre back I bet McClaren is scheduled for a meeting tomorrow with Mike. Won't even get sat down and Mike will say "No need to take a seat Tufty. This is going to be really quick. You have had 76m plus to spend, I've given you everything you needed, so either keep me in this division or you can take your ginger arse elsewhere ok?"
If I was Berahino I would just sit tight a WBA and tell Peace to go fcuk himself. I will wait till next Jan and you will get next to nowt for me. He is young enough to miss 2/3rds of a full season and for it not to affect him. Peace seems like a right cnut, and he looks like Voldemort.
Wba still get a tribunal fee as he is home grown. You are right though. Peace is playing a dangerous game. In less than 12 months SB can start talking terms with other clubs. Imagine the size of the signing on fee..
