That's why Peace isn't as clever as he thinks. If I was Ashley or Levy, I'd wait it out and then sign him for a nominal fee. He's an out of favour player and a club comes along offering £24 million in cash up front. You would have to be a complete idiot to turn that down.
Anybody know what's happening with Remy? Leicester claim they still want a striker today Is the Remy deal still a goer for the Foxes? Have we walked away from trying to bring him in?
You have missed updating the results for Prediction League and Cup. Concentrate on those - they are relying on your input. You are not needed on this thread.
Things have gone awfully quiet so hopefully NUFC are working on something. More likely Charnley decided to get off early after the Doumbia announcement. For all the excitement of Shelvey, Townsend and Doumbia I think we have fallen short - defence is going to cost us plenty of points between now and seasons end, and we can't really afford a single slip up anymore.
Is nobody else concerned that there is still a strong chance we will go down and all these signings will be on their way for knock-off prices in the summer? I mean apart from Doomboy(aka CC) of course. There seems to be a lot of talk of how we will sign the rest of our needs in the next transfer window. We need 18 points from the next 15 games or it all goes out the window.
I'm concerned we might go down - I'm not overly concerned about the financial situation, as even finishing bottom should see us get enough prize money to cover these signings (though it would only leave us the reduced transfer fees received to invest). The longer we hear nothing today though then the more likely it becomes that come 11pm we'll see Remy at Leicester, Berahino at WBA/Spurs, and us not being able to get anyone else in. BUT and it is a big but, at least we've already done some serious business this window - and should be in a better situation than we were a month ago. We'd be putting a lot of eggs in Doomboy's basket though!
Every time I see another post from you I have to go and check the Prediction Cup thread because I cant believe that you would be so inconsiderate to waste time replying when you have other more important things to do.
With the defence unstrengthened yet again... I don't think we'll still be in the Premier League to benefit from the 'next phase' defensive recruitment in the summer. We'll be selling all these players we have just signed and trying to scramble a team together that can bounce straight back up (not a foregone). So for me this window has not been a success, despite some showy signings, unless we can pull something out of the hat to strengthen the defence in the next few hours.
Coming up to 8pm and there doesn't even seem to be the usual deluded rumours flying around. Starting to look like we're done. #HopeImWrong
Twitter is terrible. Everyone before the transfer window: "It's crucial we sign a proven Premier League goalscorer, a LB and a CB!" After signing a glut of promising midfielders and an unproven striker, no defenders and no proven goalscorer: "What a great window. Credit to Mike!"
As it stands I think it's been an OK window. Not great, and still lots of unaddressed issues, but at least we've made some progress. We've definitely had worse windows. A lot will depend on how it plays out with Doumbia and our injury situation with defenders as to whether it's enough.
I'd hate to work for Sky right now. They've got to eek out 3 hours of "excitement" when more or less everybody's already in bed ahead of PL fixtures tomorrow.
it's been a great window for us. Stevie Wonder can see that. I'd gladly lick fish paste of Mike's man tits if we got another striker in mind.
We shot ourselves in the foot last Summer regarding defenders. Macca didn't have enough clout, Colo got himself a contract, Saylor got himself another injury. Then it's taken Steve this long to work out Dummett's a bit of a clogger, Saylor's actually ALWAYS injured, Colo's too old. Add to that Mbemba learning and Janmaat not really having "defensive duties" on a list of priorities. It's risky. But for CB we have Mbemba, Colo, Saylor and Dummett. Dummett, Colback and a returning Haidara at LB. Janmaat, Mbabu and at a push Anita for RB. They're not great players but who is that good in the bottom half of the league? The back fours at Norwich, Bournemouth, Sunlun, Villa, West Brom and so on are all pretty bad. Hell, at the top of the table you have Mangala, Mertesacker and Huth. It's not a strong league.
