Newcastle defender Jose Enrique has voiced his frustration at the club's transfer policy and has implied that the officials do not want to invest in the squad.

The Spaniard, who has been linked with a move away from St James' Park for the majority of this summer, accused his employers of a lack of ambition and also claims he had been offered no improvement on his current salary.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said in May that the club would make Enrique a "fantastic" contract offer.

The 25-year-old has a year to run on his existing deal and no progress has been made on an extension, much to the club's frustration.

Newcastle came under fire in this evening's series of posts by the defender on social networking site Twitter.

    Money
Beginning in Spanish, Enrique claimed: "The club is allowing all the major players of the team to go. Seriously, do you think it is the fault of the players? Andy (Carroll), nobby (Kevin Nolan) etc etc.

"This club will never again fight to be among the top 6 again with this policy."

Paying tribute to the Tyneside club's fans, he added: "I think you fans are the best and you deserve the best, not what they are doing with the club. Thanks to everyone for supporting me."

Switching to English in response to another poster, he then wrote: "The [sic] give the money I have already. They lie all the time. But is no for money is because they don't want spend in the club and bring quality players that's why everybody go."

Enrique, who joined Newcastle from Villarreal in 2007, has reportedly drawn interest from Liverpool and Arsenal this summer.

It seems that Enrique has had enough and has opened fire on the NE second clubs owners and management. Its quite obvious that having had time now to reflect and see the clubs transfer policy in full flow and standard of recruitment's to replace Andy Carrol and Kevin Nolan, the Spanish International has not left much room for the old "lost in translation" get out clause.

I think the line "They lie all the time. But is no for money is because they don't want spend in the club and bring quality players that's why everybody go" sums up the barcodes summer recruitment policy totally. They havent brought in quality but rather total gambles and quality players such as Enrique have obviously sussed them out to be 2nd rate straight away. This isn't my opinion its Enrique's, a barcode 'legend' apparently who has let the cat out of the bag.

Its a shame none of our summer recruits are good enough to get into the NE's runners-up club team as we may have been able to help them out but when he (Enrique) has left the club to join Arsenal or Liverpool in the nest week or so, it will free up the 30 bob Agent Ashley will give to Cockney yes man Alan Partridge, to go out and find yet another cheap, nasty unproven, unheard of replacement they can haggle over. What an embarrassing humiliation for the lower placed NE clubs fans to bare.

NE top club status is not even an issue and the 4th consecutive year of Sunderland dominance in the NE is assured before kick off.

Probably I'll get some negative rep for that, not that I'm bothered, but it only happens when you're posting. Yep, you are a snidey c***, as you put in your comments.

Do you never sit, serpent like, waiting for me to do so, then strike in a very camp and sorry way to tell me so?

Its YOUR players words not mine. Maybe you could address HIS concerns and frustrations as your lot keep telling us you have top quality players?

Your current top player doesnt seem to think so chum. Dont shoot the messenger of YOUR players.

I've been watching this unfold on twitter (he's closed his account now, likely on the clubs advice) and it's a really big insight into the club.

I think there's little question that the likes of Enrique, Nolan, Carroll and Barton, to name but a few, genuinely felt a loyalty to the club, and would have stuck around if investment was forthcoming.

I never rated Nolan, but the other 3 are genuine quality players, and would be an asset to any club in the league, it seems almost insane that the club would allow such assets to leave, especially, in Enrique and Bartons case, when there is a clear bond and loyalty to the club, a rare trait.

Enrique's contract is allegedly something like 18k a week, something that came out 2 summers back when we ourselves were linked with a bid.

Whoever advised Ashley that he wasn't worth more than that was a clueless individual, a good left back is hard to find, Jose Enrique is a VERY good left back.

Strikes me that the players are speaking out and trying to help the club, communicate with the fans and let the fans know that the **** with Ashley's 'yes men' continues behind the scenes, i think it's admirable to see, and it's the kind of bond i'm hoping we are building at Sunderland, with players recent statements.

He's basically not wanting to keep Barton because he spoke out at a few fans roadshows, showed passion for the club, and called a spade a spade.

    It's a circus.

I couldnt give a rats arse about 'rep' points chum but I do like the words your player has come out with and the fact your biting already tells me that deep down, you know the summer recruits are ****ing shambolic as well as Enrique.

Shame though that you choose to attack me, when all I am doing is putting a local football fans rival enjoyment into this story that YOUR player has broken.

Nowt wrong with commenting on your big rivals, Sombrero. But I think the main point of what Enrique was saying seems to be he's pissed off at no pay rise. I don't know what he's on at the moment, but satisfaction with the club's ambition is invariably proportional to the amount of wedge being lobbed in the player concerned's direction, if you ask me. Bent was a good example. Villa were more ambitious than Sunderland, apparently, but did he take a pay cut.......?

    * There are no words big enough to express your obsession with that bollocks.

** Every player bought is a risk. But I am confident Cabaye (Integral part in a double winning side), Ba (If kept fit will do very good job like he did last season), Marveaux (Biggest risk, hopefully turn out good). Abeid has looked impressive as well.

*** Now really, explain this comment. How can a player be "nasty unproven", surely can only be nasty if there has been an attempt of proving themselves. Oh and just because they are "unheard of" to you, does not mean others do not know who they are.

Your complete and utter bias shows no bounds.

This sort of thing hardly embarrasses me anymore. Whilst I wish it didn't go on, it's sadly part and parcel of the endless barrage of ****e this club fires at the fans.

But Cest, at your age I would imagine you've felt the same at some stage as I know until recently, Sunderland have had their own share of clueless owners and as yet (and I do say that with much caution, as I'm aware it's entirely possible), thankfully, ours haven't had quite the impact on the pitch in the same way that your's did (i.e. we were relegated but not as spectacularly as you's once were). I'm not really one for dragging up old stuff like that, but I feel it is relevant to this debate as it leads me to my next point: you can't stop supporting the club you love, no matter what awful crap they put you through. Other fans take the piss, and **** I know our lot did when you's went down with the low points.

Enrique is a top player, but this is the 2nd player to comment after the Shola outburst.

Most of the mags know fat mike is a greedy twat, and have accepted that fact, nowt they can do about it,

If enrique leaves it'll be a big lose for them, but they'll get over it.

As for their signings, well think a lot on here were happy when we were linked with Ba, as for the rest...pass, time will tell.

For me their major ****-up was letting chicken wings go, far to good for the championship, and i wouldn't have minded him playing for us, (despite the fact he's a twat),

There is something very wrong at that club. Houghton did wonders and built a team spirit that absolutely destroyed us last season. Its as if Ashley saw that and has systematically torn that spirit apart. Pardew is a very sorry relacement and a complete yes man. The calibre of players being brought in is far lower than those going out and any NUFC fan who denies this is fooling themselves. If I were an NUFC fan I'd be very worried, very worried indeed. They will be fighting relegation this year, poorer manager, poorer players and poorer team spirit = poorer results.

What Shola had to say last week.

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has said that his side's main target for this season is Premier League survival.

Newcastle finished 12th in the last campaign, their first back in the top flight following their relegation to the Championship in the 2008/09 season.

Ameobi said: "We know it's always more difficult the second season after you've been promoted.

"I think first and foremost we have to stay in the league."

Despite a mid-table finish last time around, Ameobi believes it will take some time before Newcastle will be able to challenge for a spot higher up the league

I'm gonna have to agree with you here Syd.

My lass, my dad, and probably 60% of my best mates are Toon fans, due in the main to me living in Newcastle for some 9 years, and it's like anything that harms people you care about, you can mock for a while, and believe me i did, but then there comes a point when you start to think, ok, enough's enough.

We all know that football fans in the North East live and breathe for their clubs, and for all that there are idiots on both sides of the Wear/Tyne divide, the facts are there are many more good lads and lasses, there are people who's only light is their football club.

The man is an absolute and utter disgrace, the Carroll sale was justified, unquestionably, but to go on from that, pledge all the money for transfers, rescind that offer via his ****ing dickhead of a yes man Llambias, and then for it to come out that stars players aren't being offered proper contracts and in Bartons case will have offers pulled for non-footballing reasons, it's bullshit.

I'm amazed at the mans brass neck, he genuinely couldn't give a ****, and considering the impact of football on the average man in England, people who don't give a **** should not have control of football clubs that are at the heart of communities, and that can have a direct impact on tens of thousands of lives.

    How arrogant of you

But yeah, I'm gonna go with the general consensus on this one and say "I hate Mike fricking Ashley"

I think the Darlo chant aimed at Barton - "Ashley, Ashley, Sign him up!" - can relate to this farse also

    Okay.

Sombrero? What are you twittering on about? Have I accused you of being a 'snidey c**t' somewhere or sometime? Can't recall that but hey, if the cap fits? Get some fluff on your nads and grow up. You take the piss out of us (and I can just imagine you reveling in our misery over the years) and we do you. If at times it oversteps the mark then tough. This is an internet forum and we are not friends, acquaintances or kindred spirits. We are messages on a keyboard. Get over it.

Big Dave - we have been a shambles of a club for 20 years and we have suffered because of it. Throughout all the 19 & 15 point seasons we took dogs abuse from Mags who reveled in tour demise. I took it all on board but now the shoe is somewhat on the other foot, some like Aiston, Sombrero, 5-1 and Chappaz can’t take it back. Well tough ****e. You’re all going to get it big time as long as Ashley and Co. continue to shaft you all every year. Whilst I do have some sympathy as a football fan, I have none as your local rival. If it were the other way around, don’t tell me your lot wouldn’t be doing EXACTLY the same.

Aiston - What the **** are you warbling on about? Your presumptions are like your arguments, boring, limp and totally without foundation. If I had something to say to you, I'd do it with you knowing full well who it was from, not anonymously. I'll accept your apology although I can’t imagine you would be offering it.
