How about £30M + Luke Shaw?

And the rest:)

We're lurching into the madder part of the transfer window when Andy Carrol type deals can happen. It's called panic. We should offer Bertrand or Mane for 50m each and see if LvG still has access to the Utd dosh. After all if he can coach the bite and confidence out of Schneiderlin lets see if he can turn Mane into an average wing back.

The winter window is nearly always a bit of damp squib in terms of tranfer fireworks, Townsend to Sunderland would be classed "headline." The Carroll/Torres thing was a bit of an anomaly but it's that potential that gets fans excited and sells papers (was it actually press funded? News of the World was still around then ;))

Yes, LvG could definitely do that to Mane, it's what he see's in him. No one else does, that's what convinces Van Gall of his genius.

Remember this summer when we were often linked to Kante? Never gave it much thought then because I knew nothing of him, but seeing him play for Liecester this season, I think we really missed a trick there.

Signing of this season, almost disregarding the modest fee, I didn't know anything of him either. Maybe we would have signed him instead of Romeu, as Classie was a certainty. Possibly along with Jordy having two small PL untested central midfielders was deemed a not ideal. Though our recent recruitment doesn't seem as conspicuously patchy as it did a few weeks ago. Classie's performances, to a lesser extent Cedric's, the satisfyingly canny acquisition of the future Sir Charles of Austin, and the timely emergence of Long - have dispelled the doubts.

I see our transfer target Tony Vilhena scored a screamer yesterday, hope he does that here.

You know that intrinsic and instinctive ability humans possess to identify "wrong-uns" just by looking into their eyes? Well I must say, Mr Vilhena seems to have that look about him. He sported it particularly well during the fight he had with his team mate too. I'm not at all sure about him.

I thought exactly the same thing, but I will trust Ron. Maybe it's an edge that can be used for good.

Well we have complained at times, we have nobody on the pitch with "an edge" to get hold of things when necessary. Any player that has tendencies in that direction is a risk, but sometimes a risk that is needed.

As long as we learn and don't have someone as far over as Osvaldo was, I'll be happy with it.

I mentioned last week that a Dutch customer who supports Feyernoord said that if Clasie is a terrier, then Vilhena is a Bulldog!

Indeed, but also very aware of the human capacity to get that very wrong too.
