The issue is Welbeck has been playing in the Premier League for 8 seasons now, he's 25 years old and still looks no better than when he first came onto the scene. And this is after playing under one of the greatest managers of all time. He has his uses, but his erratic finishing in front of goal will always be his major downfall and we can't afford to have someone so profligate leading the line.
He will get his chance and I hope to God he proves me wrong, but if we miss out on a top quality striker in the Summer for the sole purpose of nurturing Welbeck, it will be a pretty poor decision, in my opinion. I just don't think he is good enough for us and he has not done anything in an Arsenal shirt to change my mind.
