    Cracking effort JK

Fascinating that in Lambert and Hughton's first seasons we were just two points above at this stage and yet six/four places higher. I think that both were pretty rubbish festive periods though iirc? But Hughton's ten matches unbeaten kept us afloat and then under Lambert we beat West Brom twice in January in cup and league and then just kept picking up points here and there

I think Villa being cut adrift may have something to do with it. Maybe as they're not taking points off of the teams further up the table, it's leaving teams like us with more competition points-wise in the mid-to-lower end of the table.

It has certainly improved after the last 4 or so games JK!

Indeed. I'm now wishing I'd kept the historical tables so I could plot the progress on a line graph compared to the other seasons.

Can't really be arsed to go back and do it now!

Well it's certainly moved on from "Yup. It doesn't make particularly good reading"! Excellent work JK.

Yeah definitely, though in the Lambert season weren't Wolves and Blackburn cut adrift quite early? Probably not this early in the season though and also not the same extent I imagine

Excellent JK, and much appreciated. Lambert's side had a good January then fell away after that, as did Hughton's. The red-card was unlucky last night, as we were doing well before that and even equalised with 10 men. Lambert was fortunate to get a red-card victory in January when Joey Barton was sent off at QPR.

That table really goes to show that our relegation in Hughton's season 13/14 was down to a poor second half of the season and our relegation in 94/95 was simply ridiculous. 7th at this point!

A strong second half of the season will make the difference.

A win against Bournemouth and this will be an above par month even before we play Liverpool.

At this stage I think we have to say that a draw against Bournemouth is the hope. A win would be amazing, but sometimes you have to be realistic - they have been in good form until Tuesday and will be gunning for us.

All I know is, I want at minimum of 2 points from our next two games.

Bold! but fair. Two points would be a good return IMO.

My monthly targets must be adhered to!
I've earmarked 5 points from January, so we need two more!

As it's a 6-pointer, a draw would be a good result, but a win would put us 5 points clear of them. Also they will have played two more games at home than us after Saturday (as will Swansea, Newcastle and Villa), so another advantage to us.

Great point - something that is easy to forget. Especially as our away form is so dreadful!

Well, it wasn't so bad at Old Trafford Rob! Remember that we played all of the big clubs except Arsenal away in the first half of the season, so away results could improve from here on out (as long as our players don't see RED on a regular basis. ;)

I'd take a draw, but I'm really nervous about the next game.

Updated again. At this point; slightly better GD than Hughton's last season, equal on points, but lower down in the table.

Cheers JK. The only positive is that up against the other clubs our Gd counts as an extra point so far, whereas I seem to remember under Hughton it didn't because it was worse than most others
