I would seriously go and have a look at Paddy Madden. A 1 in 3 goal return for a striker that is currently played on the wing is a decent return. He's also meant to be really quick and direct, which is something defenders hate.
We were definitely the first on Austins case. I also remember him coming out in the press whinging about Swindon not accepting our bids, and NP and AP got hailed as heros on this forum for not throwing money away.
They're as likely to go down as any other club in the bottom 5. Newcastle and Sunderland have had far too many near misses over the last few seasons. They may have the money to spend, but not many players will want to join a club in the middle of a relegation battle.
They're playing reasonably well, they out-played Arsenal last weekend (despite the result), a couple of additions and I think they'll be fine, there are definitely three worse sides than them, despite their current league position. Though their first target doesn't seem to be going too well... Newcastle have had an £18m bid for Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette rejected.
Other teams don't have the quality, but I just think they have got more fight in them. I know a couple of Newcastle ST holders who don't share your confidence that they'll stay up!
Everton are set to sign 20-year-old striker Shani Tarashaj for £3m from Grasshoppers in Switzerland (though he's being loaned straight back to them for the rest of the season).
I have discounted Villa already. They are so relegated even a miracle won't save them. A reason maybe to try and get Gestede, a player Bruce was keen on before Villa signed him. He wasn't signed by Garde, maybe Garde wants his own players in for the Championship next season.
It looks like Accrington Stanley's Matt Crooks is set to join Josh Windass and sign a pre-contract agreement with Rangers. As Scotland is a foreign league, they can sign the players now and won't have to pay Accrington anything by way of compensation when they move in the summer, it's ****ty for them.
Its alright saying we should be in for Blackman, Madden and whoever else, but do we have any money to spend at all or are we just in for loans?
Starting most games doesn't stop a player being available for transfer. Nick Blackman started 25 league games for Reading this season.
Only our owners know that. That will depend on if they see more value in selling a Premier League club or a Championship club.
