We need another striker. That is all.

I must confess to feel lacking in the company of the all knowing sage from the dark side. No longer get annoyed, just pure pity that he keeps coming over with his words of wisdom that nobody really cares about.

Did Quinn say in one of his interviews just after bent was sold that we would buy a quality proven striker to replace Bent?
So come on quinny and bruce pull your fingers out and get one in,left sided midfield/winger is not a matter of urgency a fxxxing striker is

I do honestly think the intention was to go for a big name striker, but then with the way Sess came on in the off the striker role, things changed.

You just can't kick that nagging that when Gyan's away, we are going to be short, even if Whickham takes to the Premier League from the off, it's still extreme to ask him to be the main man for 4-6weeks when the ACN is on.

This is going to be January, when our season tends to unravel anyway, it seems insane to me that he would risk the wheels coming of in January again.

You're a 62 year old man and you're old enough to be my grandfather. Stop acting like a petty 12 year old child.

I just did some research, and as far as I can tell the ACN is from the 21st Jan til 12th Feb. looking at the fixture list, we would be without Gyan for:

    Swansea at home
    Norwich at home
    Stoke away
    Arsenal at home

With Campbell expected back, Wickham and Dong having half a season under their belt, a solid midfield and the opportunity to pick up a January loan signing, the ACN doesn't really bother me.

What scares the absolute **** out of me is Gyan breaking a leg at the end of August.....that would well and truly **** us for the season

He'd likely be unavailable for the game after he gets back as well though mate, and i don't imagine he'll be putting himself about too much in the last game before he goes.

The ACN may start on Jan 21 but I am sure Ghana will want him, and the rest of the squad, there a couple of weeks before that.

He used to irritate me too Syd but his constant posting on our board made me realise he just wants to be accepted - I think it's only a matter of time before he he openly admits he's been secretly in love with Sunderland for ages.

I think the reason that he always comes across as a knob is just his clusmy inarticulate way of trying to fit in - I put it down to the gaucheness of youth; he often reminds me of a child at the dinner table trying to sound grown up. Bless.

I think if were playing 1 up top with 1 behind then we have plenty of options.

    Up top

    Gyan
    Wickham
    Dong
    Tank

    Behind
    Sess
    Ricco
    Steed

If we need someone to cover the ACN then the window will be open to get someone.

The problem is which top striker will be prepared to come and sit on the bench? Bruce is going to go with Gyan and Sess as first choice, most top stickers would not be prepared to sit on the bench at Man U or Chelski so why would they sit on the bench at Sunderland?

I think we will sign a striker but it will probably be on loan and maybe not the big name we all want.
