Judging by the "Steve Bruce" chants which echo all around the KC at every home game (even the West stand joins in) there are a lot of fans still behind him - even if the majority of those who use these boards aren't.
Well the fact the we are third even though we are 'terrible' is one such indicator. Bruce has a proven pedigree of getting teams promoted and it's never normally done by winning every game convincingly (which it isn't for anyone by the way). I've watched Derby and Middlesbrough a number of times this season and they are not any better than us on a consistent basis, and if you say they are you are talking out of your arse. Not only a month ago everybody was saying they were both overrated. There is a tendency on here to say that teams above us are doing so well and any team we beat are the worst team we've seen this season. I also believe based on what we have seen so far that even if we finished in the playoffs we would go up. We have consistently been better in the pressure games against teams around us. Edit: Also, telling me a lot of other people on here want Bruce out will do absolutely nothing to convince me.
Middlesbrough and Derby were always going to be the teams to beat this season. From what Burns said the other day Derby have another £15 Million to invest in January and Boro probably something akin to that. By the time we kick off at the dramas we could be 8 points off an automatic place - making it a must win if we are to hang on to the coat tails of the leading two. Hopefully TWS will do us a favour tomorrow but I hate relying on them
I agree with all of this Sterling, my only concern is how any incoming manager would deal with the Allam's, and perish the thought that any ex-Real Madrid personnel would have to communicate with them. The fact that the Allam's clearly know **** all about football, still, is probably the main reason that Bruce is still at the club.
Tough one the Bruce situation. For me looking to the future if we got promoted given Bruce's defensive strategy would we be happy to give this combination another go in the premiership or do we look at an attacking style ala Watford and Bournemouth. Who's the best bet to keep us up? Clearly this squad will make the playoffs. But under Bruce will we get automatic? I'm not sure, we lose too many games where a point should be a minimum.
Most of this Bruce in / out debate is pointless as Allam won't sack him and the only way he won't be our manager for the rest of the season is if he resigns
True enough, somebody else has made a point on here though that the Allams might decide to get rid being the hard-nosed bastards that they are but I can't see it myself. In Bruce We (have no choice) Trust
That's the problem. I'd vote yes to hull tigers if it meant bruce getting the sack. I'd imagine many others would too.
Nope! Managers come and go! I'm sure all the outers will get their wish at some point but not any time soon! And not at the expense of our name!
There are so many issues at the moment with the team, and at some point we have to stop blindly supporting Bruce. At what point does 18 months of dour football become a sacking offence? Just because Bruce has a good record is not an excuse to keep him now. Bruce has no idea what his best team is, he has no idea how to get us playing attacking football consistently. Worst of all we are going to have to go into the transfer window to improve our squad, despite the fact the team we have now has cost us an absolute fortune and is more than good enough to win us promotion. If I was the Allams I would start to question a manager who isn't get the best out of his squad, and question why they should give him more money to spend when so much of the money they have given him in the past has been wasted. I am not necessarily, Anti Steve Bruce, I just look at the situation from a logical viewpoint and at some point enough has to be enough. I am still unsure whether sacking Steve Bruce is a good idea.
Good post! BUT WHO would you want to replace him & would they work for our owners? I believe SB will walk if we don't get promoted.
I am uncertain who we could bring in, I follow football but I don't see enough of other teams to judge their managers, so all I have to rely on is statistics. Off the top of my head, Mark Warburton did a very good job at Brentford and is doing an excellent job at Rangers. Would he come to us? Who knows. I don't think we would have an issue attracting a manager due to our owners, all managers care about is the football side of things. Bruce has been left to manage the football team, and the Allams are smart enough to leave this to Bruce. So I am pretty certain attracting a manager wouldn't be an issue. If we don't get promoted it would be too late. Similar to last season, we got relegated, and with hindsight it would of being worth taking a risk and sacking Bruce. Despite me at the time blindly backing him and saying we would stay up. Will we take the risk and sack Bruce this season? No I don't think we will.
If it is to be the play-offs then the fact we can't string two decent performances together is a worry. Still, that's months away and I'm sure if we can get Dawson to play 16-17 games for the rest of the season we'll finish in the top 2
Warburton is a good shout, a good manager who plays decent football and has a decent record for unearthing young talent, Rangers are still skint, I doubt he'd cost much.
Ok, if you get rid of Bruce just who do you think is going to come in and replace him, Moyes, Rodgers, Sherwood, Monk ???? all currently out of work, and not one would consider coming here, if you think they would I suggest ya give your heads a shake, they will look to vacancies coming up in the Prem. Wharburton ???? leave Rangers after what 4 months ... please ! I am as unhappy as the rest at the current run of poor performances against lesser teams, but inanely getting rid of the manager at this time of the season isn`t going to help a dot, unless you have a better option to replace them.
