As I said before the Stoke game, the players have stopped believing in the manager, so aren't playing for him, much like what was happening at Chelsea when Mourinho was there. That's why I think Chelsea will win this game tonight, as atleast now Hiddink is there the players are back on side
That would have been true a few weeks ago but things have changed. Your sulky players have got what they wanted and our hapless manager has drained all confidence from his team. We are consistently playing our worst football in decades. It's all part of a process though apparently and we need to back the manager and be patient.
Michael Carrick... "I have a lot of pride in myself and in my performances and I think it is a bit disrespectful when people say that the lads aren't trying for the manager. That hurts us a lot, because that is not the type of people we are. We haven't won games and it is fair enough if people criticise things that have gone wrong on the pitch." Well said. Stop making the players the scapegoat. They try their best but the manager has let them down and their confidence and belief is low. Who's fault is that, not theirs but Van Gaal's
I'm genuinely scratching my head on how this will go, I just can't call it. Two under performing sides who don't seem to give a ****. I'd like to think, after some players once again spoke in the press, that they'll raise their game and relish putting a rival further in the mire. I just can't see it though. I genuinely think van Gaal has given up and that this is his last game. The issue is this; I also believe United won't give the job to Mourinho and will instead let Giggs take charge for the rest of the season. Woodward win then try, and inevitably fail, to get Guardiola at the season end.
This is how I see it playing out. What will Mourinho do after Guardiola says no to Eddie? Will he be too proud to play second fiddle? And would you be happy with Giggs over Mourinho?
Exactly. Mourinho wouldn't then take the job, in fact he'd probably already be working elsewhere, and I've no doubt that Woodward would in some way insult Guardiola to the point of driving him to City and so we'd be left with Giggs. And these aren't the circumstances that Giggs should be taking the job. In my mind I've got no doubt United will **** this up.
Even if we somehow fluked a win I think LVG will go. He must have realised by now that English football will always be a total mystery to him. I agree that Woodward will **** up finding and appointing a new manager. He is way out of his depth.
Hardly. We looked very shaky against Watford either side of half time. These days when we look shaky we concede straight away. I've been telling you for 18 months that Van Gaal is yesterday's man, you've wasted £300m on ordinary players and your club is a shambles from Woodward down. It is absolutely incredible that a franchise of United's size and budget has failed to attract any proven world class players. Even if/when Van Gaal goes you are going to have to spend big again in several positions.
Looks like Martial is out on the wing again. Herrera at 10. I disagree with the former, agree with the latter. What is clear is that the clown still has no idea what his best team is or which positions to play certain players in. The process could take a decade or perhaps even longer.
One thing that we have to remember is that there are more than two managers in world football. Here were the odds after the game on Saturday: Jose Mourinho 4/7 Ryan Giggs 2/1 Pep Guardiola 6/1 Antonio Conte 28/1 Gary Neville 28/1 Manuel Pellegrini 33/1 Mark Hughes 33/1 The one that jumps out to me is Antonio Conte. He would be more than a decent manager for United. He took Juve from nowhere to top of Serie A in 2011/12. We should be able to get him from Italy after Euro 2016. I wouldn't mind Gary Neville either. He is a natural leader and knows the club very well.
Hoping for a boring Utd 1-0 win tonight to keep LVG in his job until we destroy you on the 2nd of Jan
Darmian straight back into the team despite apparently lacking match rhythm and his selection contravening the feelossofee. In short, the manager's a bullshitter which is one of the things I find infuriating! Chelsea don't have any strikers in their squad.
Can't complain about that side at all. Defence aside, if I were to pick an attack and midfield from our fit players, that would be it. In those positions too.
I look at that squad and I still can't believe we only have 29 points. There's quality in there. UGGHHH
